The City is delighted to host the annual Splash & Blast celebration on Saturday, June 29, from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at Old Celina Park. Recognized as Celina’s Biggest Backyard Bash of the Summer, this family-friendly gathering fosters a sense of community and togetherness. Attendees will be treated to live music and a kids’ zone featuring water slides, foam pits, rock wall, and Ninja Nation Obstacle Course. The celebration offers something for everyone, ensuring an enjoyable experience for all ages. This signature event not only showcases the vibrancy of our community but also highlights the commitment to creating memorable experiences for our residents. The evening will culminate in a spectacular fireworks display, providing a fitting conclusion to this patriotic celebration.

UPDATE ON OWNSBY PARKWAY RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT

The City sent an email out this past week updating residents on the Ownsby Parkway Reconstruction Project. Here are some key updates that were conveyed to residents. Altice has completed the splicing of the fiber lines to energize the new line on Thursday, July 27. Beginning on Friday, June 28, the retired lines are scheduled to be removed, and GCEC is scheduled to remove the old poles beginning on Monday, July 1. Construction is scheduled to resume no later than Monday, July 8. The City understands that construction projects can be disruptive and is committed to minimizing any inconvenience.

UPDATE ON DALLAS NORTH TOLLWAY PHASE 4A PROJECT

For the ongoing work on the Dallas North Tollway Phase 4A project, the following lane closures will be in effect from Monday, July 1, through Saturday, July 6, between 6:30 AM and 6:30 PM:

• The daily north- and southbound right lane of Dallas Parkway from First Street to Light Farms Way

• The daily north- and southbound left lane of Dallas Parkway from Prosper Trail to Light Farms Way

• The daily northbound left lane of Dallas Parkway from Punk Carter Parkway to FM 428

These closures are necessary to clean culverts, transport topsoil, perform a mass haul of materials, and clean the closure area.

In addition, the City of Celina and the Town of Prosper Engineering Departments, along with the Marketing & Communications Teams, will meet with NTTA in July to discuss community outreach and alternative methods that the NTTA can implement to mitigate concerns resulting from lane closures during peak traffic times.

ANNUAL STREET MAINTENANCE PROJECT TO BEGIN ON MONDAY, JULY 8

The City of Celina will commence its Annual Street Maintenance Project for 2024. The contractor is scheduled to mobilize to S. Georgia St on Monday, July 8, to begin the water line replacement. Following the completion of this phase, work will commence on the full-depth restoration of the roadway between Cedar St and Ash St. This phase of the project is expected to conclude by the end of July.

During this period, residents may notice location flags placed in their yards. We kindly request that residents refrain from removing these flags, as doing so could potentially cause delays in completing the work in the area. Additionally, the City will advise residents to exercise caution when traveling through these areas while repairs are underway. The goal is to complete these necessary improvements as efficiently as possible.
