DEPARTMENT & DIVISION UPDATES

CODE SERVICES

During this season, the combination of sunshine and rain can lead to rapid grass growth on properties. High grass ranks among the top three issues addressed by Code Enforcement, alongside junked vehicles and trash & debris. It’s important to recognize that vegetation exceeding 12 inches in height may be classified as a nuisance if located within 150 feet of a property boundary and outside of a natural, riparian buffer zone. If residents notice tall grass, please report it to Code Services at (469) 297-2804. Additionally, it’s worth noting that springtime conditions may sometimes make mowing difficult due to excessive moisture, resulting in variable response times from property owners until the grass can be adequately cut. Code Services aims to achieve voluntary compliance through a respectful approach.

FIRE DEPARTMENT

The Fire Department successfully underwent and excelled in a surprise site visit conducted by Medicare. Notably, this evaluation marks Medicare’s first site visit since the onset of the Covid pandemic. The Department expresses pride in its achievement, ensuring the continuation of an uninterrupted relationship with Medicare. Importantly, the Department anticipates that billing procedures will remain unaffected by this outcome, reflecting its commitment to maintaining operational consistency and regulatory compliance.
