With the crane now in place, significant progress continues on the Parking Garage project. Next week, construction efforts will focus on pouring perimeter and ramp walls, with columns continuing their vertical expansion. Additionally, work will commence on underground utilities, including stormwater drainage, sanitary sewer installation, electrical and power conduits, and domestic water infrastructure. These critical advancements will support the long-term functionality and efficiency of the facility.

UPDATE ON PRESTON ROAD GREEN RIBBON PROJECT

The Preston Road Green Ribbon Project continues to make significant progress, with flower bed preparation now complete from Preston Road/FM 455 to north of Celina High School. This phase included the strategic installation of new mulch and gravel, setting the foundation for a vibrant and sustainable landscape. Planting begins in late March or early April once temperatures are optimal for growth. The selected plant species - Blue Grama Grass, Blue Chip Juniper, Chapel Hill Yellow Lantana, Lilyturf, Pink Skullcap, and Asian Star Jasmine - will enhance the corridor with natural beauty while supporting long-term sustainability.

TEMPORARY LANE CLOSURE FOR W. FRONTIER PARKWAY

Beginning Monday, February 3, the westbound lane of W. Frontier Parkway between the Dallas North Tollway and Doe Branch Boulevard will be closed daily from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM to accommodate utility installation and turn lane construction for the Creeks Retail development. Traffic signals will be in place to manage the flow of vehicles through the area. This temporary lane closure is expected to last approximately one month, weather permitting. We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as we work to enhance infrastructure and improve traffic flow in this corridor.

ANNUAL “CHOUP” COOK-OFF BRINGS CITY STAFF TOGETHER

Last week, City staff came together for our annual “Choup” Cook-Off, where team members showcased their favorite chili and soup recipes for everyone to enjoy. Chief John Cullison, Shannon Gartner, and Amy Alexander had the honor of serving as judges for this friendly competition. Events like these play a vital role in fostering camaraderie among our staff, especially as our team is spread across various locations. They provide an opportunity for connection, inclusion, and shared moments of enjoyment. We extend our appreciation to our Human Resources team for their dedication to organizing these meaningful activities, which strengthen our workplace culture and bring us together as one team.

As we continue to build a strong and dedicated team, we look forward to the leadership and innovation they will bring in shaping the future of Celina.
