Ariago is 100% Colombian Arabic Coffee. Ariago represents Colombia families who created a form of life around coffee more than 100 years ago.

Los Alamos farm is where Ariago grows most of its coffee. It is a traditional coffee farm, located in a mountainous region of very fertile volcanic soils: Average temperature during the whole year: 21 ° C. (69°F) Height: 1550mt Season production: We have coffee production during the whole year.

However it increases in two season.

We produce and market specialty single origin coffee from the Colombian coffee cultural region. OUR STORY

Our brave uncle Luis Ángel Gómez Gómez arrived to unexplored and montanious region located in the heart of Colombia, searching for better opportunities.

He started working as muleteer (he transported coffee in mules), which for that time was the form to transport coffee and to communicate between regions.

Luis Ángel encouraged to his siblings among them our grandmother Adelina, to start a new life in these beautiful and fertile lands (Today Quindío State). Adelina was a virtuous, brave and hard-working woman who, together with her siblings, started those coffee roots.

The Gómez Gómez family after some years of hard work, they started to buy land and they cultivated coffee. Like this, they had different bussinesses of coffee in some towns, turning themselves into one of the most representable coffee families in the region.

Maria Teresa Gómez (Daughter of Adelina) and Rafael Arias, got married in a beautiful and small town in the coffee region named Pijao.

Rafael during his youth years as a police officer traveled throughout many areas of Colombia, fighting the violents.

OUR STORY

Rafael and María Teresa decided to return to the Los Alamos coffee farm to reconnect their lives with their coffee roots. They have worked on this land ever since. His nobility, hard work, love and wisdom is what today allows Ariago to offer a very special coffee.

UNESCO declared the region of Quindío, Caldas and Risaralda as a world heritage site. Because of the unique way in the world in which thousands of families such as the Gomez family managed to combine cultural, economic and environmental elements around coffee.

The Arias Gómez family decided to create a new company and directly market their coffee under the Ariago brand. They then expanded their production capacity by acquiring two more farms, La Camelia and El Porvenir.

We plant native trees in the Colombian coffee region and applying ecological process.

Ariago is 100% commited to a sustainable production

We support the development of Colombian coffee region to preserve the legacy of almost 100 years of our grandparents that together with millions of families have let this region be catalogued by UNESCO as a treasure unique in the world.

We support families of this region, improving their income, creating jobs with fair remuneration.

OUR PROCESSES We combine the artesanal processeses that our ancestor have done over 90 years with advanced techniques to extract the best of each bean.

We have 5 selecting process. Which let us guarantee the quality of our coffee.

SOWING The sowing is carried out in a planned way, taking into account all the variables for a better production and process.

FERTILIZATION We fertilize 2 or 3 times a year according to the nutrients required by our soil.

FUMIGATION The only pest that sometimes requires being fumigate is rust that affects leafs of trees of two of varietales caturra and borboun which is controlled with a fumigate before it blooms SELECTION Cherries are collected manually at the correct point of ripeness according to their color. Then they are received and selected by float method. Finally we check again and remove manually the remaining green cherries. .

DRYING The coffee is taken to sun dry until it reaches the required moisture.

(10.5%-11%) THRESHING AND SELECTION After the threshing process, beans are selected automatically and then we do a final manual selection.

ALBARDA ALBARDA Is a device used by the muleteers on the back of their horses or mules to carry heavy loads.

ALBARDA is also our ARIAGO traditional coffee, produced for more than 90 years, ever since our grandparents started working with coffee as muleteers.

ALAMOS ALAMOS is the name of our family coffee farm, located in Quindío, Colombia, where our parents planted in us the love and passion for coffee.

Ariago´s ALAMOS coffee represents the purity, softness and authenticity of Colombian coffee.

AVE AMARILLA You can see YELLOW BIRDS flying over the coffee trees anytime. When the caturra variety ripens, the cherry turns yellow instead of red.

ADELINA

DEL SOLAR A coffee grown in “el solar� is coffee grown in the courtyard of the house.

This is the place where the seeds have been planted and well cared by loving hands. It is grown inside a family's space, bathed by the sun's rays to obtain a special flavor.

Coffee "EL SOLAR" highlights the artisanal way of coffee harvesting and selection by hand as our grandparents did, since 1930.

DON RAFAEL RAFAEL is the name of our father, who during his youth years as a police officer traveled throughout many areas of Colombia, fighting the violents.

During these travels, he fell in love with our mother, a beautiful town´s girl in Pijao, part of a marvelous Colombian coffee region from which he never would want to leave.

DON RAFAEL, as he is known in the region, is also the name of our coffee that through its notes reflects the life of a wise and virtuous man, full of fantastic stories to tell.

PIJAO PIJAO is a small and beautiful town in one of Colombia´s coffee region. This town is particularly important to Ariago because it was the place where our grandparents arrived from distant lands in 1930. It is here where they started to build their lives around the coffee culture.

Grandmother Adelina lived here all her life.
