celeste favaloro portfolio
hi there! I’m Celeste and i am an interior architecture student at Endicott college. I come from a family filled with creative and skilled people, so design has always made sense to me. I grew up always wanting to re-do my bedroom and even asked for hand drafting tools for my thirteenth birthday. Anytime I go into a space I envision what i would change or add to make it more inclusive, functional and beautiful. I see the potential in every space and I’m very passionate about user centered design. I believe that the spaces we create can truly change how humans interact, feel and function and my only hope is to take part in that.

restaurant
esposto cafe Description: Esposto is cafe and restaurant that serves green, vegan, and whole foods. They pride themselves on using local ingredients and providing their customers with insight on exactly what they are consuming. What you see is what you get. Goal: When designing the space, it was important to us to incorporate that same mentality. This is brought out in the materials like brick, visible piping, wood, leather and the neutral color palette and dark tones. This created an industrial style making the space feel truly exposed. We also wanted to make the space easy to navigate for customers which is why we created this open area for the bar, indoor dining and outdoor dining, with clear circulation and transparency from the windows. Overall this is a versatile space that people can gather and share a meal, grab a quick bite, or even go to get some work done and stay a while. Location: Florence, Italy Concept: Esposto- Translated to English, esposto means exposed. This word reflects the brand and their values and is represented through materials and color in the space.

down to earth living
Down To Earth Living
Description: Down To Earth Living is a space our clients can come to unwind and immerse themselves in a different culture. With touches of modern European design, the space has a rustic look bringing in natural materials like wood and natural textures like exposed brick. Whenever possible, local materials and furniture are used for both sustainable purposes and to achieve an authentic Italian style. Greenery is also placed throughout the apartments to bring the concept of the “mind garden” in quite literally, blending the outside environment with the inside. Although each apartment shares the same base of materials and furniture, they each have their own unique touch. The four apartments are Acqua, Sbarcare, Luce, and Buio which all translate to the English words water, land, light, and dark. The idea is to bring the earth into the interior space, while giving each apartment their own feeling. The Buio apartment, which has accents of black/gray will feel much different from the Luce apartment, which has more ivory accents. Similarly, the Acqua apartment brings in more color with its blue hues as well as the Sbarcare apartment with its accents of teal. This makes each apartment feel both individual and cohesive. These apartments create a community that gives the customers a sense of place to take time to themselves and grow their ‘mind garden’. Goal: The goal is to offer customers a contemporary and warm style which also represents their life-style, their taste and needs. Location: Florence, Italy Concept: Mind garden- “The notion of the mind-garden for growing ideas is the seedling for social sustainability from which a community sprouts.”

They both have very important roles individually, but when they come together, that is what makes you who you are.

textile design: citrus Everyone loves feeling fresh. Citrus represents this, along with feeling clean, happy, and natural. It is simple, yet exciting.
lighting design In order to tie in the theme of the mind garden into our lamp design, we wanted to refer back to nature and it organic qualities. We wanted the design to be intricate, similar to the thoughts in our minds. With nature comes unorganized, inconsistency. We showed that through the mixture or circular shapes varying in size. We wanted the negative space to be apparent and create clear contrast in its reflection. A white material was chosen to reflect the simplicity in nature and allow the light to do the talking. Once turned on, one will notice an inconsistent pattern of large, medium, and small circles growing outward, similar to a plant. This also represents the mind growing with its many different thoughts, overall creating a interesting, delicate fixture.
