Welcome to the 2023 Manhattan Beach Rotary Celebrate Manhattan Beach!

Dear Friends, Neighbors, and Fellow Rotarians,
Welcome to Celebrate Manhattan Beach! This annual fundraiser, hosted by the Rotary Club of Manhattan Beach, supports essential humanitarian projects in our community, surrounding areas in need, and across the globe. Tonight, we come together as Rotary Club members, guests, and sponsors to revel in our extraordinary city and embrace the unparalleled sense of community we share.
Manhattan Beach Rotary is a community-driven service organization with a mission to enrich the lives of our neighbors and extend a helping hand wherever it's needed most. Our devoted members work relentlessly to address our community's most pressing challenges, backed by Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation, which channel generous donations into powerful grants that fund our initiatives locally and worldwide.
Locally, our Foundation awards over $60,000 in scholarships to graduating high school students at Mira Costa and El Camino College, empowering them to pursue their dreams of higher education. Globally, we join a strong network of 1.4 million members spanning 46,000 clubs in 200 countries, all steadfastly committed to "Service Above Self."
Tonight, we also have the honor of recognizing Jim Hunter for his lifetime of dedication to Service Above Self. Thank you, Jim, for your unwavering commitment to furthering Rotary's mission worldwide.
As you indulge in the evening's festivities, we encourage you to engage with our members and explore the profound impact of our projects on our local community and beyond. Our collective efforts create lasting change by promoting literacy, fostering peace, addressing water scarcity, and improving health, including the ongoing battle to eradicate polio worldwide.
We are deeply grateful for your attendance and generous support, which enable our service projects to thrive. I am honored to serve as president of our exceptional Rotary Club, and I extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you for joining us tonight.
Let us savor the evening, form new friendships, and take pride in the meaningful impact we make through our generosity at this event.
Thank you for attending and for your unwavering support of the Manhattan Beach Rotary Club's projects and scholarships throughout the year!
In service,
Gerry Morton
President, Rotary Club of Manhattan Beach

Dear
Fellow Rotarians & Friends,
I want to thank you all so much for being here at Celebrate Manhattan Beach to show your support for the wonderful work that Rotary does for our community, locally and internationally. We are a unique organization in that every dollar raised gets to go exactly where it is needed without paying a staff. We are a 100% volunteer organization made up of Manhattan Beach community members living by the motto “Service above Self”. With your help we are making a difference in people's lives bringing hope, joy, and change, and doing our best to make this world a better place for all.
I want to say a very special thank you to our Honoree’s, Jim & Joanne Hunter, who exemplify "Service above Self". We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for leading the way and for being the example that everyone should follow. You are the definition of "actions speak louder than words".
My first introduction to Rotary was when I was 11 years old- it was a holiday fundraiser put on by Rotary. My father and mother took me because they were both Rotarians in the Everett Rotary Club in Washington state. At a young age, I started to understand the value of giving back and Rotary has shown me the way. Then I was lucky enough to be asked to join this premier organization (because it is an honor) and have been a proud Rotarian since 2005!
Rotary allows us to give back. The Four Avenues of Service, Vocational, Community, International, and Club Service allow us all in the club to focus our attention on what fits us best and where our service can do the best good. We get to do all of this while building amazing friendships and having fun. If you are interested in learning more about joining, ask the Rotarian at your table how to get involved.
Celebrate Manhattan Beach is an event that was started in 1992 and has grown every year and has become the signature fundraiser for our club. Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to put this event together and make each year better.

As President of this club for 2023-24, I want to thank everyone in advance for your generosity and your attendance. Help us to make this a record-shattering year so we can give more to those in need.
Yours in Rotary, Lisa
Hemmat-Lupercio

Let's Celebrate!
On behalf of the Rotary Club of Manhattan Beach, I welcome you to one of the most entertaining and fulfilling events of the year, Celebrate Manhattan Beach!

The money we raise tonight will be used to facilitate the Manhattan Beach Rotary Club’s outreach both locally and internationally in 2023-2024. Every donation tonight will underwrite 12 months of “Service Above Self” devotion, grace, sincere caring and compassionate sharing from all of the Rotarians in our Club.
This event would not have been possible without the generosity of you and our community. Our sincere appreciation for your kindness and support!
We would like to give a special acknowledgement to our Rotarians who have worked countless hours during the past few months to make this night possible; we are grateful for everything you have done:
