Andy Gutierrez, aka “Coach Andy G,” has been playing pickleball for thirteen years and teaching for nine. He has taught locally, throughout the U.S. in 20 states, and in Canada, impacting over 1,500 players.
Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he was born and raised, Andy played racquetball and squash at a high level before transitioning to pickleball. He was the Racquetball State Champion in both Wisconsin and Florida.
He still plays racquetball in the summer in Milwaukee and enjoys squash here in Miromar Lakes during the winter months. He also helped train
young pro Kyle Yates in his early years. Kyle has since won gold in four U.S. Opens and several National titles. At the 2024 U.S. Open in Naples, Andy coached four clients who earned five gold medals in amateur events, including Miromar Lakes resident Jim Ptacek.
Pickleball brings Andy great satisfaction, particularly watching players improve and become more strategic in just an hour on the court— especially beginners in his Wednesday 11 a.m. clinics. He calls this “Progression.”
Both of his children live in Ft. Myers and Cape Coral, and his 17-yearold grandson, who is playing exceptionally well, rounds out three generations playing pickleball!
