Synopsis
In the enchanting world of Matilda: The Musical, based on the beloved novel by Roald Dahl, audiences are transported into the extraordinary life of Matilda Wormwood, a precocious and extraordinary little girl with an insatiable thirst for knowledge. Lilly Burgess
Lilly Burgess (Trunchbull) is a six-year member of the Freedom Area High School Drama Club. Lilly plans to attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the fall of 2024 to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in History. Her aspiration is to further her education with the goal of becoming a History of Science professor. Lilly’s advice to underclassmen in the Drama Club is straightforward: have fun! She encourages them to make the most of every moment on stage and cherish the memories gained from putting on shows, as they stay with you forever. Over the years, Lilly has appeared in the following roles: Ms. Trunchbull (Matilda), Madame De La Grande Bouche (Beauty and the Beast 2023), Ensemble (Annie, Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Adams Family, Little Shop of Horrors, Beauty and the Beast 2018 - a broom).

Morgan Wilfong
Morgan Wilfong is a dedicated member of the Freedom Area High School Drama Club, having been involved for six years. Their future plans include attending Rosedale Technological School to participate in their welding program. Their advice for other students is to live in the moment and take it all in. With a rich tapestry of experiences, Morgan has spent nine years in drama club, five years in majorettes, one year playing football, four years playing softball, and one year in competitive twirling. Their diverse background brings depth to their endeavors. During their time in FHS Drama, Morgan has taken on various roles including Ensemble roles in “The King and I,” “Beauty and the Beast” (2018), “The Addams Family,” “Little Shop of Horrors,” “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” and “Annie,” with an additional role as Silly Girl in “Beauty and the Beast” (2023). In expressing gratitude, Morgan acknowledges their mother’s unwavering support, stating, “I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude to my mom for her unwavering support in everything I do. Thank you for always being there for me.”

Vera Armenio
Vera Armenio is a three-year member of the Freedom Area High School Drama club. Vera plans to attend the University of Akron to major in statistics with the goal of becoming an actuary. While pursuing her academic goals, she also hopes to continue her passion for the arts in her future endeavors. Her advice for her fellow classmates and underclassmen is simple yet profound: never be afraid to try something new, as they may just discover a new passion along the way. In addition to her academic pursuits and passion for the arts, Vera is an active member of various clubs and extracurricular activities, including Art Club, Book Club, Physics Club, Math Club, Majorettes, and Winter Cheerleading. Vera also served as Stage Manager for “Annie” and played the roles of Narrator/Ensemble in “Beauty and the Beast.” “ I would love to thank my parents, my lovely little sister, and all the friends I have made along the way for sharing this moment with me.”

Anthony Battaglia
Anthony Battaglia, a six-year musical program veteran, plans to pursue Graphic Design at Pittsburgh Technical College this July. During his high school tenure, he excelled in DECA, FBLA, and SkillsUSA, winning awards in Digital Advertising and Publication Design. Anthony also dedicated three years to Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Good News Club, while earning membership in the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society.
On stage, Anthony showcased his talent in productions like “Addams Family,” “Annie,” and “Beauty and the Beast.” He expresses gratitude to all who supported him throughout high school and looks forward to his future endeavors in academia and the arts.
