Staff vs. 8th Grade Basketball Game

Right before Spring Break, we held our annual 7th and 8th Grade Students vs. Staff Basketball Game! The students won by a very slight margin this year, but the Staff will be back next time! It was a really fun event.

Boys Tennis

The Cedar Hill Prep Boys Tennis Team is off to a positive start, heading towards a successful season. The boys have been practicing since early March, developing their skills and strategies for their matches. After a difficult loss in their opening match against Princeton Academy, the boys came back to win their following match in a 4-1 victory against Pingry. Coach Frankie was very proud of her team and she is looking forward to further strengthening their performances in future matches throughout the month of May.

Coed Track

On April 24th, the girls and boys relay teams represented CHP at the 12th annual Big Blue Relays held at The Pingry School. Our competitors were Pingry, MKA, Stuart, Heritage, Newark Academy, and Mendham CD. Our boys and girls team participated in the medley relay consisting of 100m, 200m, and 400m. The girls team competed in the 4x100m relay. The boys team competed in the x200 relay. The girls secured 3rd place in the 4x100m and the boys secured 2nd place in the 4x200m relay. The teams performed excellently and represented CHP very well. We look forward to continuing the season next week at Greenbrook on 5/3, and the Silver Spike Invitational at GSB on 5/4.

Coed Volleyball

Our CHP Wildcats Volleyball Team is off to a great start this Spring!! We have had two matches against Metuchen Christian Academy and Princeton Charter School. Our Wildcats defeated Metuchen Christian 2 matches to 1 and lost a close match with Princeton Charter 2 matches to 1. Our Athletes have been playing great, showing lots of determination and cooperation! Go Wildcats!

Our Next PTO meeting will be on May 10th at 7:00pm. The meeting will be via Zoom and we will be discussing upcoming events. Be on the lookout for an email with details regarding the meeting.

Singing and Dancing Competition

On Thursday, April 4th, our students participated in the annual singing and dancing competition! We received submissions from every grade. The judges certainly had their work cut out for them as the performances were outstanding! The students presented their acts to the entire School on Friday, April 28th. We are thrilled for our students and dazzled by their talents!

The Green Team

The Green Team, a CHP elective class, has been busy working on earning two separate levels of sustainability on CHP’s 9-acre campus. First, we are working toward River Friendly Certification by focusing on water conservation at the school. Second, the Green Team has been earning points toward the New Jersey Audubon Eco-Schools Schoolyard Habitat Pathway. The team designed an action plan to be completed over the next two years and has already made significant progress by creating donut holes around the trees surrounded by volcano mulch. This prevents the bark from being girdled by fungi, bacteria, and invertebrates. In addition, the Green Team removed spotted lanternfly egg sacs from the trees on campus. The Green Team has applied to the Xerces Foundation to get a grant for 550 pollinator plant species for the detention basin to create a wildflower meadow. Pizza with the Principal

On Friday, April 28th, students enjoyed another monthly “Pizza with the Principal.” It was fun to get to spend time with Principal Seeley just a few days before National Principals Day. Students got to express their gratitude to Principal Seeley for his work at the school and reflect on how incredible it is to have a principal who is so dedicated to his students and community. We love you, Principal Seeley!
