Mission of the Aftercare Program Cedar Hill Prep’s Aftercare Program is designed to provide your child with a safe and nurturing environment to continue his/her educational day. Students are encouraged to complete their homework under the supervision and guidance of our trained staff. After completing their assignments, students are offered various activities to enhance their imaginations and creativity.

What if my child is absent from school?

Please notify your child’s classroom teacher if he/she will not be in school. The teacher will then inform the Aftercare counselor.

What if I enroll my child in an Afterschool Club?

There are a variety of clubs offered at Cedar Hill Prep. Please allow your child to enroll in just one club per day. Cedar Hill Prep’s focus is to ensure the safety of our students. Scheduling back-to-back clubs can be hectic in terms of the logistics of going from one club to the next. When you enroll your child in a club, please inform the classroom teacher so he/ she is aware of your child’s schedule. Your child will be returned back to his/her Aftercare classroom after the club.

Can I leave my other child/ren in Aftercare while one is an Afterschool Club?

If you are not already enrolled in Aftercare, you can leave your child/ren in Aftercare while one is in a Club. However, if you are not enrolled in Aftercare, there will be a fee for this service. Your child will remain in the Aftercare group according to grade level. You will be required to sign your child out in the red Sign-out Book in the Main Lobby.

Pick-up Procedures

What should I do when I get to the school?

Please check in with the Aftercare counselor at the front desk in the Main Lobby. Sign your child/ren out in the Aftercare Book. Using our Walkie-Talkie system, the counselor will then request your child be sent to the Main Lobby. Parents are to remain in the lobby until their child/ren arrive. If you are picking up a child in Pre-K3 or Pre-Kindergarten, you will be asked to pick her/him up from the classroom.

Who is allowed to pick up my child in the event I cannot?

If you know in advance that you will have a carpool with another family, please notify us in writing so we can record it in our book. If an emergency arises where you cannot pick up, you need to notify us as soon as possible with the name of the person who will be picking up your child. They will be required to show I.D. that we will photocopy if needed for future use.

What happens if I am going to be late for pick up?

It is very important that your child is picked up on-time. However, if you are going to be late, it is your responsibility to call the School to notify the Aftercare staff. Our Aftercare Program ends at 6:00 pm, after which our counselors are dismissed. In the event that you are going to be late, we will have counselors who will wait with your child; however, there will be a charge for lateness.

The cost of late pick-up will be paid directly to the counselors, in cash as follows: 6:00-6:15 - $10.00; 6:15-6:30 - $10.00. After 6:30, an additional $2.00 charge per minute will accrue in addition to the $20.00.

The actual time of your arrival will be determined by the counselor’s cell phone. This is payable directly to the counselors watching your child/ren.

When I pick up my child, can he/she go back to the class for a missing item?

Unfortunately, students and parents are not permitted to re-enter their classrooms. It is the student’s responsibility to remember to pack all belongings, including everything needed to accomplish homework. Please remember, Cedar Hill Prep’s focus is to ensure the safety of our students.

Clubs Art Club, Basketball, Soccer, Amazing Athletes, Mad Science, Concert Choir, Book Club, Bricks for Kidz, Ceramics, Creative Writing, Concert Choir, Instruments, Acapella, Debate Club, Piano and Keyboarding, Reading Club, and Robotics.

Attendance What are the hours of Aftercare?

Our Aftercare Program runs from: 2:30- 6:00 Kindergarten 3:00- 6:00 Preschool 3:00- 6:00 Pre-Kindergarten 3:00- 6:00 Grades 1 – 2 3:30-6:00 Grades 3 – 4 4:00-6:00 Grades 5 – 8 Kindergarteners through Grade 8 students are given a transitional period where they will eat their snack and socialize with their friends. Students will have the opportunity to play outside until 4:00 (weather permitting) At that time students will return to their aftercare rooms to complete homework assignments.

Preschoolers and Pre-Kindergarteners will have snack, story time, and playtime in the classrooms. At 4:00, they will go to the playground (weather permitting), and then return to their classroom.
