Dear 8th Grade Parents and Students,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! In 8th grade, students will travel as one group for most subjects, except for math and language arts, where they will learn the same content at different paces. You will receive more detailed information about this soon. Although we are one homeroom, students will place their backpacks between our rooms.

Additionally this year, we are offering students the opportunity to choose between art and chess class throughout the year, and an email with further details will follow.

8th grade is a pivotal time as we prepare for the transition to high school, and although it might feel like a whirlwind, this year will be filled with growth, discovery, and excitement on the journey towards graduation.

Please review the enclosed pages for essential information about supplies, lunch, snack, arrival, dismissal, and more. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out via email. We look forward to working with you and your children for a fantastic year ahead!

Student Safety and Supplies

For students, safety is our number one priority, so please send your child prepared with his/ her daily supplies as we will not be sharing personal items. Since we use lockers, please remember to send your child with a locker shelf, which is essential for helping the students organize their books and supplies throughout the day. Locks are not necessary. Please secure in their backpack the following items:

1) Water bottle, lunch/snack and utensils

2)Personal school supplies for the day (i.e.: pens, pencils in pencil pouch, paper, binder, etc.)

Arrival/Dismissal Procedures

Students can be dropped off at the side gate from 7:40 am. Please be punctual as Morning Assembly will begin promptly at 8:00 am in the Middle School Gym.

From 3:45 pm, students line up and are dismissed from the side gate until 4:00 pm. After 4 pm, they will be sent to After Care.

For both arrival and dismissal, you can drive up to the curb to drop off and pick up your child without parking. Please stay in your car and do not leave it unattended. No parents will be allowed past the gate for security reasons.

Uniforms

Students are required to wear regular school uniform daily (including Health class), except on gym days twice a week, when they wear their gym uniforms.

Students will receive their schedules on the first day of school. Every student should come to school in regular school uniform on the first day, Friday, September 6th .

Summer Homework

Students should remember to bring in their summer homework during the week of September 9th , or as advised by your subject teachers.

Please familiarize yourself with Gradelink. Ths will be your Parent/Teacher portal for academic grades and report cards. You can also set up parent alerts to facilitate your child’s optimal learning.
