Grade 6A Welcome Letter

Welcome to Middle School

Dear Parents,

I will be your child’s 6A Homeroom teacher for the year. The 2023-2024 school year is an exciting time for us all, and we look forward to great learning and positive experiences among our students, parents, and staff. Our engaging and participatory curriculum will allow your child’s natural curiosity and creativity to flourish.

In the following pages, I have provided detailed information about supplies, lunch, snack, arrival and dismissal, and more. Please be sure to read through it all.

Student Safety and Supplies

For students, safety is our number one priority, so please send your child prepared with his/ her daily supplies as we will not be sharing personal items. Since we use lockers, please remember to send your child with a locker shelf, which is essential for helping the students organize their books and supplies throughout the day. Locks are not necessary. Please secure in their backpack the following items:

1) Masks – will be optional this year (if you choose to have your child wear one, please provide it yourself).

2) Water bottle, lunch/snack and utensils

3) Personal school supplies for the day (i.e.: pens, pencils in pencil pouch, paper, binder, etc.)

Arrival/Dismissal Procedures

Students should be dropped off outside the side gate from 7:40 am. Please be punctual as Morning Assembly will begin promptly at 8:00 am.

From 3:45 pm, students line up and are dismissed from the side gate until 4:00 pm. After 4 pm, they will be sent to AfterCare.

For both Arrival and Dismissal, you can drive up to drop off and pick up your child without parking. No parents will be allowed past the gate for security reasons.

Uniforms

Students are required to wear regular school uniform daily (include Health class), except on Gym days twice a week, when they wear their gym uniforms.

Students will receive their schedule on the first day of school. Every student should come to school in regular school uniform on the first day, Thursday, September 7th .

Summer Homework

Students should remember to bring in their summer homework during the week of September 11th , or as advised by your subject teachers.

Summer Homework Assignment

Please familiarize yourself with Gradelink. This will be your Parent/Teacher portal for academic grades and report cards. You can also set up parent alerts to facilitate your child’s optimal learning.
