Grade 4B Welcome Letter

Welcome to 4th Grade

Dear 4B Homeroom Parents,

I am so excited to begin this journey through 4th grade with you! The 2023-2024 school year is an exciting time for us all. Our explorations will channel us through our imaginations as we investigate, analyze, and create. What can 4th graders accomplish this year? The possibilities are endless!

In addition to being your child’s homeroom teacher, I am also the Grade 4 Math & Science teacher, and Mrs. Yurman is the Grade 4 Language Arts & Social Studies teacher.

Student Safety and Supplies

Our students’ safety is our number one priority, so please send your child prepared with his/her daily supplies as we will not be sharing personal items. Since we use lockers, please remember to send your child with a locker shelf, which is essential for helping the students organize their books and supplies throughout the day.

Locks are optional. If your child will be using a combination lock, please have your child practice opening the lock at home so he/she will be comfortable using it at school.

Please include the following items in your child’s backpack each day:

1) Personal hand sanitizer and pocket tissues

2) A refillable water bottle, lunch, a healthy snack, and eating utensils.

3) Personal school supplies for the day (i.e., pens & pencils in a pencil pouch, books, folders, planners, etc.)

4) For our new families, when parents come to New Parent Orientation on September 6th, you may bring your child's supplies in a bag labeled with their name.

5) For our returning families, you can bring your supplies on September 7th, the first day of school. Please make sure your supplies are labeled.

Arrival/Dismissal Procedure

Students should be dropped off outside the side gate from 8:00 –8:15 am. Please be punctual.

At 3:30 pm, students are dismissed from the front of the Main Building. After 3:45 pm, they will be sent to AfterCare.

For both Arrival and Dismissal, you can drive up to drop off and pick up your child without parking. No parents will be allowed past the gate for security reasons.

Uniforms

Students are required to wear the regular school uniform daily (including Health class). Three times a week, on designated Gym days, they wear their gym uniforms.

Students will receive their schedule on the first day of school. Every student should come to school in the regular school uniform on the first day, Thursday, September 7th.

Returning students should remember to bring in their summer homework by Sept. 8th.

Please familiarize yourself with Gradelink. This will be your Parent/Teacher portal for academic grades and report cards. You can also set up parent alerts to facilitate your child’s optimal learning.
