– The City Government is now preparing a detailed list of projects to be funded by a P15-billion budget it requested from the national government.Inhis press confer ence today, March 21, 2022, Mayor Mike Rama said he received a communication from the Office of the Presi dent asking the City to sub mit an itemized list. “They asked me what is the coverage of the P15 billion,” he said.
To recall, May or Rama requested Presi dent Rodrigo Duterte for a P15-billion budget for Cebu City to implement projects and restoration efforts fol lowing the onslaught of su per typhoon Odette. Among others, the budget will be used for the con struction of a dam in the city to address water supply problems.Right after the ty phoon, one of the biggest problem for the city’s resi dents was the supply of wa ter after it was cut off by the typhoon.Aside from the dam, it was decided that “sophisticated” drainage and flood control projects should also be pursued in the city to address the pe rennial problem of flood ing.
