Peek into Preschool
Peek into Preschool--NEW!
Age 2½ -4 years
This summer course gives young children and families a peek into the preschool experience through a gradual separation approach. Families attend together on Tuesdays to explore what preschool is all about, then children practice being in the classroom independently on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
What happens during Tuesday of each week:
Children and their caregivers explore the preschool classroom together, getting hands-on with materials and activities while practicing familiar routines such as circle time, snack, and clean-up. Families have the opportunity to meet the teachers and connect with one another, helping children build comfort, confidence, and familiarity with the classroom environment.
What happens during Wednesday and Thursday of each week:
Children participate in typical preschool activities such as art, play, stories, and music with support from their teachers, while caregivers step away for the session. These days focus on helping children practice independence and feel confident in the classroom, all within a supportive, lowpressure summer setting.

Screening
Early Childhood Screening is a simple check of how your child is growing and developing. Between the ages of 3 and 4, screening can detect possible health or learning concerns so that children can get help before they start school. Parents accompany their child through the process. After the screening activities, the screener shares information on the child’s growth, development, and learning.

April 10, 17, 24

Academic Enrichment
Math by Mail: Elementary School
Entering grades K-6
Keep your math skills sharp over the summer! This 10-week correspondence program was developed by a veteran teacher. Materials that students will cover during the summer review support concepts they have encountered during their previous school year. Summer Math is not a tutoring program, and it is not an enrichment program to advance students ahead. It is a "pen-pal" style correspondence program and offers practice of previously learned concepts to keep skills sharp and build confidence. Students will take a pre-test and fill out a questionnaire to individualize their program. Students will then receive nine weeks of materials. Each week's packet will include five math lessons with problem-solving activities. The activities will apply to a specific math concept or strand. After the student has completed a packet, they will mail it in. We'll make corrections, provide feedback and mail it back. Students may start and finish the course at their own pace throughout the strands. Ms. Jill Yeager is currently a classroom teacher with over 33 years of experience. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a MA Ed. in Curriculum and instruction. During her career she has taught in grades 3-6 and has also been an instructional coach for teachers teaching kindergarten through 6th grade. She has been offering Summer Math by Mail in nine school districts for over 18 years. Led by Jill Yeager.
