Welcome to Magnifying Abilities

Magnifying Abilities is a social/recreational program for adults 18 and older with intellectual and physical disabilities. The program is designed to enhance community involvement and lifelong learning of people with disabilities. Individuals who participate in the program reside within Carver and Scott County.

We're Hiring!

Magnifying Abilities is looking for a dependable and enthusiastic Paraprofessional to join our team! This is fun and rewarding position offers 5–15 hours per month and a very flexible schedule. Shifts are typically short and occur on weekday evenings, with occasional weekend hours. An ideal candidate is someone who is positive, engaging, and has experience supporting individuals with disabilities. Please spread the word to anyone you know who is looking for a meaningful, flexible, part-time position! Contact Susan at meyers@district112.org for more information.

We welcome volunteers, ages 16 and older with a friendly attitude and a passion for supporting individuals of ALL abilities! Build friendships while solving jigsaw puzzles! Choose from a wide variety of puzzles provided by the Puzzler’s Exchange organization. Tell Your Story

Everyone has a story to tell! Don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity to share your story and become a published author! This 5 week class series invites anyone who uses words (no traditional reading or writing skills required) to help author a published book. Each class session will feature fun and unique prompts led by the friendly staff at Cow Tipping Press. The finished book will be presented to friends and family at a book release celebration featuring all the authors. Register early - limited spots available. There is no fee for this class. Padelford Riverboat Cruise

Enjoy the fall colors on the beautiful Mississippi River! This 90-minute public cruise on the Padelford Riverboat departs from Harriet Island in St. Paul. Sights along the way include: the St. Paul High Bridge, Pig’s Eye Cave, the Minnesota River mouth, Pike Island, and the timeless splendor of the mighty Mississippi River. An indoor climate-controlled cabin means we can enjoy the cruise rain or shine. Registration includes bus transportation to Harriet Island from Chaska High School. We’re excited to have you join us! Our goal is to make your experience with Magnifying Abilities positive, enriching, and safe. To help everyone feel comfortable, we ask that new participants attend their first few activities with a companion (family member, friend, or staff) or have someone remain in the building during the event. Once you're ready to attend independently, please speak with MA staff at the activity for approval. Some participants may need a family member or other companion to attend with them indefinitely due to support needs.
