Sam is ill.

“AHH CHOOO!” he sneezes.

“I’m ill,” he says. “I want to go to bed.”

“Sleep well,” says Mum. “We can look after the café,” says Dad. 3

She skates round the café.

“Who likes fast food?” she asks.

Dad burns the sausages.

“Never mind,” he says. “They’re good with tomato sauce.”

Dan washes the dishes.

“I like this job,” he says. “I can blow bubbles.”

“There’s spaghetti on my head.”

“It looks very nice,” says Gran.

And then . . . WHOOSH! A frying-pan is on fire.

“FIRE!” shouts Dad. “CALL THE FIRE-ENGINE!” shouts Gran.

“EVERYBODY OUT!” shouts Mum. Everybody runs out of the café.

The fire-engine arrives.

The firemen hose water into Sam’s café.

“Oh, no!” says Mum. “Sam’s upstairs in bed!”

A window opens upstairs.

“HELP!” Sam shouts.

A fireman pulls Sam out of the window.

The next day, the family go to see Sam in his café.
