A week later, the Little Red Hen is in the field again. The wheat needs water to grow. “Can you help me carry the water, Horse?” asks the Little Red Hen. “No,” says Horse. “I’m busy.

All the animals say, “We’re busy.”

So the Little Red Hen carries the water and waters the seeds.

Some weeks later, the wheat is very tall. It is ready to be cut and taken to the mill.

“Can you help me, Dog?” asks the Little Red Hen.

“No,” says Dog, “I’m busy.

Ask Horse.”
