CDL began in 1964, as S&S Electric, providing electrical services for residents and businesses around Pittsburg, Kansas. By the time we changed our name to CDL Group of Companies in 1996, we were also maintaining signals and providing electrical services for companies in the short line railroad business.

We have the privilege of serving over 40,000 customers across 33 states and 1 international location. In the last three years, we have been fortunate to see a 75% growth rate, annually. Although we continue to grow, we always stand by our core values.

J&A Industries, LLC, has served the needs of the railroad signal systems industry since 1986 as a premier product manufacturer and service support provider. We provide on-time delivery of all signal equipment, layouts, foundations, and switch hardware to our valued customers.

J&A Industries engineering services, including complete AutoCAD support services, provide experienced solutions to many of today’s customer challenges. Since 1997 we have supported movable span bridge signal upgrade projects for the top railroad companies throughout the world.

SIGNAL MAST WITH FOLDING

STAND

In 2010 J&A developed a new, patented foldable signal mast ladder and platform, which arrives pre-assembled and requires less than an hour of field work prior to install. J&A has also expanded upon the product line of lightweight field tools. Developed for installation and maintenance projects, these field tested rail drills, mast drills, spring switch gauges, and spring frog testers are an exceptional value. We continue to grow our extensive line of tools to assist our customers.

J&A Industries in-house engineers design structures that meet the needs of our clients while meeting AREMA & AASHTO standards. This includes 12’-30’ single mast and 32’-44’ double mast size ranges, ensuring our cantilevers are built to withstand the elements. To speed up the installation process we offer a pre-wired design with 12 bolt fitting. Our allaluminum cantilevers are structurally certified and built for easy maintainer access and we can provide structural certifications.

MAST-LADDER-PLATFORM

J&A’s foldable mast-ladder-platforms are a staple of railroad signal safety. These masts are shipped complete, mostly assembled in one package, ready to set up. Unfolding the platforms takes just minutes. These signal platforms come pre-wired for colored lights, cutting down on setup time and cost. These units can also be customized to add lights in different configurations and fall protection systems can be added for safety measures.

J&A’s high-wide detector, or shifted load detector, aims to prevent railway disasters and damage to railroads right of way through preventative checkpoints. The high/wide or shifted load detector, is designed to prevent cargo loss and protect bridges, overpasses, and property from freight damage. With a simple, durable design that is easy to maintain, J&A’s detector aims to prevent road and right of way damage.

All instrument houses include our two year warranty and are assembled in the USA. All cases and houses are insulated with Thermax or equivalent. Insulation is available in many sizes: 3/4”, 1” and 2” thickness, with an R Value of 7.2 per inch. Insulation can be specified by customer. Customization can include terminal boards, shelves, vinyl wraps, conduit, relay bars, wire ties, ventilation with thermostat, cable risers, aerial outlets, solar panels, generators and light fixtures.

NEW YORK CITY TRANSIT

Serrmi makes custom cabinets that are being utilized by New York City Transit. This enables them to move people faster and speed up transit time. These cabinets are custom engineered and NEMA 12 rated to prevent moisture. The engineering includes EMI gaskets to prevent radio waves from getting in or out of the cabinet for the safety of the trains, insulation and shelving. These units passed special testing for heat and humidity to be approved by New York City transit.
