Welcome to the first CDi of 2025, Issue 15. I must start by thanking you for your business as we have seen a strong start to the year. The industry continues to change at pace, presenting challenges and, more often, opportunities for both us and our customers. We remain focussed on continuous improvement, making it easier for you to rely on our investment in stock availability and commitment to customer service. This is only achievable by having an excellent team and I am thankful for the great work by all colleagues, which is very much appreciated.
Our Commercial team continue to ensure we have extensive ranges from market leading brands. Logistics at the start of the year were challenging with supplier deliveries affected off the back of some severe storms and the closure of Holyhead port due to subsequent damage. I am pleased to say this has been rectified and availability continues to get back on track. The team are constantly adding NTR listings, and stock, to all product ranges. An example of this is our recent doubling of Nissens range held in stock, in time for the Spring season. The easiest way to keep up to date on these changes is via our monthly newsletter. In issue 14 of CDi I spoke about the final stages of our IT infrastructure upgrade. Overall, this has gone extremely well, although I am aware of teething problems which I believe have now been addressed. Our IT team are working hard to allow us to roll out further tools to ensure operational speed and accuracy, such as the final stages of our warehouse management system upgrade. Alongside a recent investment in conveyors in Cork, with Dublin to follow in the coming weeks, this allows us to pick orders by floor, so we are best placed to deliver tangible benefits to both customers and colleagues.
Our MechanExpert events for 2025 begin in April with roadshows in Newtownards, Downpatrick and Dungannon. The nine shows last year had a brilliant turn out of engaged mechanics and I am excited to see how this year goes, especially with the news that MEYLE and Febi have signed up as partners. At this year’s roadshows MEYLE will focus on their steering & suspension excellence, and Bilstein with its febiPLUS range, which

Bosch ‘Barry’s Tea Brake’ Factor Promotion
At the end of 2024 (hence the reindeer chocolate) and into early 2025, Bosch, in partnership with 12 Bosch Affiliate Motor Factors in Ireland, ran a highly successful garage promotion focused on braking. The campaign rewarded garages with a unique 'Bosch Barry’s Tea Break' kit when they purchased Bosch brake pads and discs within a set promotional period.
The 'Bosch Barry’s Tea Break' kit was designed to provide mechanics with a well-earned pause during their busy day, reinforcing Bosch’s commitment to
supporting those who rely on its highquality braking components. Engagement from garages was excellent, with strong participation across the 12 Motor Factors involved. The promotion not only drove sales but also strengthened relationships between factors and their customers.

Training Evenings
MechanExpert were delighted to partner up with NTC (Nissens Training Concept) in February 2025, inviting Michael R. Ingvardsen, (Global Technical Training Manager of Nissens A/S) to Ireland to share his expertise on Air-Conditioning and Engine Efficiency Systems, including thermal management systems in New Energy Vehicles.
Michael was hosted by Tom & Karen Collins of Bavarian Autotechnik Ltd, Abbeyfeale on 12th February 2025 to deliver his specialist training to 18 local garages.
Michael then travelled to Mallusk on 13th February 2025 to deliver his training to garages and Factor staff of the North, being hosted by Network Auto Stores in Mallusk
Michael noted “Even though the Heat Pump “revolution” has not arrived in Ireland and Northern Ireland, there are fundamentals in regard to the normal AC systems that need to be in place before even thinking about working on those systems. The technicians that attended the training classes became aware of that and the interest they showed was amazing. That is what made it a great training class. The fact that they understood the world of AC is changing not only from a mechanical perspective but also from a chemical perspective, surprised all of them.”
