CDi Issue 12 - April 2024

Welcome to the first CDi of 2024, Issue 12. The year has started brightly, and time is flying now that we are in Q2. It certainly feels like the ongoing changes in the industry show no signs of letting up, so I am delighted that we continue to keep pace with the opportunities that this brings. This is not possible without the great work by all colleagues, which is very much appreciated.

Whilst the quantity of new suppliers has slowed, it has not ceased and it is great to see BorgWarner joining our offering, beginning with their All Wheel Drive (AWD) components. I know our Commercial team continue to work on ensuring that the products we have available for you reflect the changing landscape by creating relationships with the leading brands, who work closely with the vehicle manufacturers. Alongside any new suppliers we continue to work hard with our existing supply partners to enhance their offerings and maximise availability. So far this year we have invested heavily in widening stocked ranges of Kilen Springs, Blue Print and Febi products, plus an enhanced stock holding of Nissens climate control parts for the pending season. This has all been done alongside a sizeable investment in Bosch Friction, which continues to be very well received.

Given the healthy start to the year and our investment in additional stocks, the quantity of products going through all warehouses has increased considerably and we really value the management of these volumes by our warehouse teams in all sites. Whether it is picking orders, checking, and putting away deliveries from suppliers, processing customer returns or stock taking, all whilst implementing process improvements, this is done with the ambition of being a better supplier for you. We constantly measure our first pick availability by brand, product line and location and take actions wherever we identify issues but welcome any feedback if you think there are any areas we can improve on.

Our MechanExpert events for 2024 begin in April with roadshows in Naas, Navan, and Carrick-On-Shannon. Following the 9 positive shows last year, I am looking forward to seeing how this year goes, especially as we now have Shaftec signed up as an additional partner. Whilst Shaftec is best known for its Calipers and Driveshafts, their technical knowledge on Electric Steering parts, Propshafts and Axle shafts will add new topics for technical talks to garages. This year’s shows will showcase the latest in Diagnostic Equipment, ADAS, AC Machines and ATF Flushing Machines from Bosch, HGS and Mahle. All calipers are fitted with new pistons and sliders made onsite on the latest CNC multi-spindle machines. We fit 100% new rubber components (subjected to stringent quality inspection) and subject each unit to multi-stage high and low pressure testing.

Every unit is also given an electroplating finish, free of Chrome 6. That means longer caliper lifespan and less damage to the environment.

Condenser

Heat exchanger - crucial for the refrigerant state change in the system

The condenser is placed at the front of the car and is typically attached to other heat exchangers in the engine compartment like engine cooling radiator or intercooler.

The role of the condenser is to ensure that the state of the refrigerant changes from gaseous to liquid form. The change of state is called the condensation process where the refrigerant heat is extracted and exchanged with the ambient air.
