Dear Sisters,

rateful for these four years of grace, we the General Leadership Team of 2022-2026, present this Chapter Report to you in a spirit of joyful service to our beloved Congregation.

In 2022, we gathered for our General Chapter under the theme of “Presence & Communion.” As we lived through the days of Chapter, the meaning of this theme unfolded, calling us to be “Sisters to our Sisters”. We left the Chapter inspired with this call.

As the General Leadership Team (GLT), our desire and commitment was to live this call—a call to deepen our presence with one another, to listen attentively, and to journey together with compassion and mutual support. We understood that our service would center on three essential areas entrusted to us by the Chapter:

1.

Membership, especially as Sisters navigate life transitions, health challenges, and the realities of aging.

2.

Mission and Ministry, strengthening our call to promote human dignity and stewarding our sponsored ministries to ensure that lay leaders in the United States, Mexico and Peru are prepared to lead with fidelity to mission, the CCVI Charism, and strategic vision.

Resources, stewarded responsibly so that our life, mission, and an emerging future may flourish.

gradecidas por estos cuatro años de gracia, nosotras, el Equipo General de Liderazgo 2022–2026, presentamos a ustedes este Informe al Capítulo en un espíritu de servicio gozoso a nuestra amada Congregación.

En 2022, nos reunimos para nuestro Capítulo General bajo el tema “Presencia y Comunión”. A lo largo de los días del Capítulo, el significado de este tema se fue revelando, llamándonos a ser “Hermanas con Hermanas”. Salimos del Capítulo profundamente inspiradas por este llamado.

Como Equipo General de Liderazgo (EGL), nuestro deseo y compromiso fue vivir este llamado: un llamado a profundizar nuestra presencia mutua, a escuchar con atención y a caminar juntas con compasión y apoyo recíproco. Comprendimos que nuestro servicio se centraría en tres áreas esenciales que el Capítulo nos confió:

Las Hermanas, especialmente al acompañar a las Hermanas en transiciones de vida, desafíos de salud y las realidades del envejecimiento.

2.

Misión y Ministerio, fortaleciendo nuestro llamado a promover la dignidad humana y a ejercer una administración responsable de nuestros ministerios patrocinados, asegurando que los líderes laicos en Estados Unidos, México y Perú estén preparados para liderar con fidelidad la misión, el Carisma CCVI y la visión estratégica.

We, as the General Leadership Team, acknowledge that during our term there were difficult moments. If there were moments in which members of our Congregation felt unheard or misunderstood, we offer our sincere apology. We acknowledge the impact these moments may have had and take responsibility for how our responses were experienced. We have reflected carefully on the effect this has had on relationships, on our shared witness, and on the exercise of leadership. We remain committed to ongoing growth, open and honest dialogue, and

and participation converge with deeper meaning at this moment in our history. They have shaped our decisions, guided our discernment, and strengthened our unity.

We began our term in a rapidly changing world marked by polarization, global uncertainty, and the lingering effects of a pandemic. These realities awakened within us both vulnerability and resilience, compelling us to reflect deeply on who we are today—as women religious, as a Congregation, and as Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word.

Through ongoing conversations in local communities, Life and Mission Groups, and across

generations, we recognized the need and desire to continue to move forward as one body, united by a shared Call that accompanies us throughout our lives. While the storms have tried us, they have not defined us.

Instead, they revealed our deep interconnectedness, renewed our sense of mission, and opened possibilities we could scarcely have imagined four years ago. We increased attention to mental and spiritual wellbeing, strengthened relationships, expanded collaboration with other congregations, and accompaniment of our network of ministries responding creatively to the needs of our ever-evolving world.

Como Equipo General de Liderazgo, reconocemos que durante nuestro período hubo momentos difíciles. Si en algún momento miembros de nuestra Congregación se sintieron no escuchadas o incomprendidas, ofrecemos nuestra más sincera disculpa. Reconocemos el impacto que estos momentos pudieron haber tenido y asumimos la responsabilidad por la manera en que nuestras respuestas fueron experimentadas. Hemos reflexionado cuidadosamente sobre el efecto de estas experiencias en las relaciones, en nuestro testimonio compartido y en el ejercicio del liderazgo.

Iniciamos nuestro período en un mundo que cambiaba rápidamente, marcado por la polarización, la incertidumbre global y los efectos persistentes de la pandemia. Estas realidades despertaron en nosotras vulnerabilidad y resiliencia, impulsándonos a reflexionar profundamente sobre quiénes somos hoy: como mujeres religiosas, como Congregación y como Hermanas de la Caridad del Verbo Encarnado.

A través de conversaciones continuas en comunidades locales, Grupos de Vida y Misión, y entre generaciones, reconocimos la necesidad y el deseo de seguir avanzando como un solo cuerpo, unidas por un llamado compartido que nos

acompaña a lo largo de la vida.

Por el contrario, revelaron nuestra profunda interconexión, renovaron nuestro sentido de misión y abrieron posibilidades que difícilmente hubiéramos imaginado hace cuatro años: una mayor atención al bienestar mental y espiritual de todas relaciones fortalecidas, colaboración ampliada con otras congregaciones, y el acompañamiento de nuestra red de ministerios respondieron creativamente a las necesidades de nuestro mundo en constante cambio.

Throughout our term, the GLT witnessed the Congregation’s steadfast commitment to living Presence and Communion. Sisters consistently expressed a desire to remain connected, informed, and engaged. Life and Mission Groups continued to serve as vital spaces for reflection, discernment, and mutual support. Community gatherings, memorial services, and moments of transition became sacred opportunities for accompaniment marked by tenderness, wisdom, and attentive listening.

Leadership during this term required careful balance between pastoral care and administrative responsibility. Cultural diversity, geographic distance, generational perspectives, and differing expectations of elected leadership presented challenges. While these tensions occasionally complicated decision-making, they also fostered growth—prompting clearer processes that included the need to strengthen bilingual communication, a deeper collaboration, and increased transparency.

The pandemic left a lasting imprint on how we gather and

communicate. Virtual platforms became essential tools for connection across distances, while simultaneously reminding us of the irreplaceable value of in-person encounters. Together, these modes of engagement now form part of our Congregation’s rhythm of life.

The GLT also recognized the richness of diversity within our Congregation. Differences in language, culture, and perspective, enhanced our discernment and decisionmaking, even as they required deep listening, patience, and humility. Over time, we learned

to receive this diversity as a gift that deepens understanding and strengthens communal bonds.

From the beginning of our term, we recognized diversity as a profound source of strength and richness. Through our faith, history, and perseverance, diversity will remain a steadfast value as we move into the future.

Elder Sisters mentored younger Sisters, providing guidance grounded in experience, wisdom, and prayerful insight, while younger Sisters offered fresh perspectives and energy to address contemporary challenges.

de la Congregación por vivir la Presencia y la Comunión. Las Hermanas expresaron de manera constante su deseo de permanecer conectadas, informadas y comprometidas. Los Grupos de Vida y Misión continuaron siendo espacios vitales de reflexión, discernimiento y apoyo mutuo. Los encuentros comunitarios, las oraciones en los funerales y los momentos de transición se convirtieron en oportunidades sagradas de acompañamiento, marcadas por la ternura, la sabiduría y la escucha atenta.

El liderazgo durante este período requirió un cuidadoso equilibrio entre el acompañamiento pastoral y la responsabilidad administrativa. La diversidad

cultural, la distancia geográfica, las perspectivas generacionales y las distintas expectativas sobre el liderelecto presentaron desafíos. Si bien estas tensiones en ocasiones complicaron la toma de decisiones, también fomentaron crecimiento, impulsando procesos más claros que incluyeron la necesidad de fortalecer la comunicación bilingüe, una colaboración más profunda y una mayor transparencia.

La pandemia dejó una huella duradera en la manera en que nos reunimos y nos comunicamos.

el valor insustituible de los encuentros presenciales, estas formas de participación ahora forman parte del ritmo de vida de nuestra Congregación.

El EGL también reconoció la riqueza de la diversidad dentro de nuestra Congregación. Las diferencias de idioma, cultura y perspectiva enriquecieron nuestro discernimiento y toma de decisiones, aun cuando exigieron una escucha profunda, paciencia y humildad. Con el tiempo, aprendimos a acoger esta diversidad como un don que profundiza la comprensión y fortalece los lazos comunitarios.

Desde el inicio de nuestro período, reconocimos la diversidad como una fuente profunda de fortaleza y riqueza. A través de nuestra fe, historia y perseverancia, la diversidad seguirá siendo un valor firme al avanzar hacia el futuro. Las Hermanas mayores acompañaron y orientaron a las Hermanas más jóvenes con su experiencia, sabiduría y discernimiento orante, mientras que las Hermanas jóvenes ofrecieron nuevas perspectivas y energía para afrontar los desafíos contemporáneos.

As we close this introduction, the GLT Report invites us to move forward with vision, realism, and hope. Looking toward the future with honesty and courage, we ask:

Members

he care, accompaniment, and formation of Sisters remained at the heart of our leadership responsibilities. As our Congregation continues to age, new realities emerge. While every member seeks meaningful ways of belonging and engagement, younger Sisters and new members discern how their hopes for religious life will unfold amid global injustice, environmental crises, and cultural transformation.

No matter their age, our Sisters care for one another! In our retirement centers, local communities, and independent living, Sisters go out of their way to do simple, and sometimes complex things for one another. The GLT experienced firsthand the accompaniment of Sisters in driving, bringing snacks to those in nursing units, celebrating special occasions, praying

Jan Richardson individually and in small groups, moving Sisters, accompanying the sick and dying; in general, being “Sister to a Sister” according to each one’s gifts and ability. That is the beauty of Presence and Communion in action!

All over the world, the reality of religious congregations is evolving.

The GLT adapted to a changing reality while looking toward the horizon with hope.

Initial Formation and Ongoing Formation were guided by the CCVI TRANS-Formation Plan, introduced in 2020. Rooted in lifelong formation, the plan emphasizes six core characteristics:

l cuidado, el acompañamiento y la formación de las Hermanas permanecieron en el centro de nuestras responsabilidades de liderazgo. A medida que nuestra Congregación continúa envejeciendo, surgen nuevas realidades. Mientras cada una busca formas significativas de pertenencia y participación, las Hermanas más jóvenes y las nuevas vocaciones disciernen cómo se desarrollarán sus esperanzas de vida religiosa en medio de la injusticia global, las crisis ambientales y la transformación cultural. ¡Sin importar la edad, nuestras Hermanas se cuidan unas a otras! En nuestros centros de retiro, comunidades locales y Hermanas viviendo independientemente, las Hermanas se esfuerzan por realizar acciones sencillas y, en ocasiones, complejas unas por otras. El EGL fue testigo directo del acompañamiento entre Hermanas: transportación, llevando refrigerios a quienes están en unidades de enfermería, celebrando ocasiones especiales, orando individualmente y en pequeños grupos, trasladando a Hermanas, acompañando

En todo el mundo, la realidad de las congregaciones religiosas está evolucionando. El EGL se adaptó a esta realidad cambiante mirando al horizonte con esperanza.

La Formación Inicial y la Formación Permanente estuvieron guiadas por el Plan CCVI de TRANS-Formación, presentado en 2020.

Initial formation included prenovices, novices, and temporary professed Sisters in the United States, Mexico, and Peru. Prenovices progressed to novitiate communities.

Temporary professed Sisters completed academic and ministerial preparation. Ongoing formation

opportunities supported all Sisters through workshops, Life and Mission Groups, and inter-congregational programs addressing aging, transitions, spirituality, stewardship, and contemplative dialogue. The Novice Director in the United States and the Directors of Temporary Vows accompanied these new members in their study of the Constitution, Vows, Spirituality, Charism, Mission and ongoing vocation discernment, using and adapting the CCVI-TRANS-Formation Plan as well as other resources at their disposal. The GLT Liaison for Formation accompanied the directors and women in initial formation in formal and informal ways, serving as a sounding board for discernment in the search for ministry and educational opportunities.

The Congregation provided opportunities for Second Year Novices and Temporary Professed to participate in Giving Voice and Inter-Congregational Formation programs in San Antonio, which gave these new members an opportunity to engage with peers around topics of formation and religious

life. One regret of the GLT was the inability to gather the CCVI Novices and Temporary Professed internationally due to the lack of visas to travel outside of their country of origin. We are also saddened by the departure from our Congregation of six Sisters in Mexico and one in Peru. We hold them in our prayers as they continue their life journey.

Vocation Ministry remained active and hopeful in all three countries. The GLT Liaison accompanied the Vocation Ministry Leaders and

La Enlace del ELG para Formación acompañó a las directoras y a las mujeres en formación inicial de manera formal e informal, sirviendo como apoyo en el discernimiento para la búsqueda de ministerios y oportunidades educativas. La Congregación brindó oportunidades para que las Novicias de Segundo Año y las Hermanas de Votos Temporales participaran en programas de Giving Voice y de Formación Intercongregacional en San Antonio, lo que les dio

la oportunidad para interactuar con compañeros sobre temas relacionados con la formación y la vida religiosa. Una de las cosas que lamentó el ELG fue no poder reunir internacionalmente a las Novicias y Hermanas de Votos Temporales CCVI debido a la falta de visas para viajar fuera de sus países de origen. También lamentamos la salida de nuestra Congregación de seis Hermanas en México y una en Perú.

Teams. There are two teams in the Congregation; one for Mexico and Peru, and one for the US. These teams were strengthened and provided with needed resources to do their work. A lay woman was included as part of the team in the US. Vocation directors participated in ongoing education from NRVC, RFC, CIRM and CLAR, both in-person and online presentations, and courses. International meetings allowed for sharing of goals, learnings, and experiences. Monthly planning meetings helped the teams to stay focused. There were “Come and Sees” and Encuentros, in all three countries. Online Encuentros for discerners were offered focusing on specific topics. Teams kept in touch through monthly zooms and in-person meetings (US).

Monthly prayer for Vocations is offered to Sisters in Mexico and Peru. Participation in RFC and NRVC bi-annual congresses was expanded. Sisters visited high schools, universities, and participated in archdiocesan/diocesan committees and awareness retreats.

CARE OF ELDER SISTERS The aging of Sisters called for new structures to respond to the evolving needs of elder Sisters. In San Antonio, a Wellness Team of lay care givers that was already active for the retired Sisters at the Village at Incarnate Word needed revision. The Center for Wholistic Care (CWC) was established with the goal of creating an environment in which every Sister can thrive in mind, body and spirit. The CWC consists of a Wellness Team, a Pastoral Care Coordinator and a Resource Management Coordinator. A GLT Sister is a liaison with the CWC. The GLT approves the moves of the Sisters from one level of care to the other and helps Sisters transition into retirement at the Village. Appropriate communication to the Congregation concerning the care of the Sisters is shared through email.

The Sisters in the Infirmary in Mexico receive care from a team of Sisters and lay employees according to their needs. The two Sisters of the GLT living in Mexico informed the GLT of changes in the health and care of the Sisters and oversaw the transitions of Sisters from local communities to retirement in Casa San Ángel.

La Pastoral Vocacional se mantuvo activa y esperanzada en los tres países. La Enlace del EGL acompañó a las coordinadoras y equipos de la Pastoral Vocacional. Existen dos equipos en la Congregación: uno para México y Perú, y otro para Estados Unidos. Estos equipos fueron fortalecidos y provistos de los recursos necesarios para su labor. En Estados Unidos, una mujer laica fue integrada como parte del equipo. Las directoras vocacionales participaron en formación continua ofrecida por NRVC, RFC, CIRM y CLAR, tanto de manera presencial como en línea. Los encuentros internacionales permitieron compartir metas, aprendizajes y experiencias. Las reuniones mensuales de planeación ayudaron a los equipos a mantenerse enfocados. Se realizaron experiencias de Encuentros “Ven y Verás” en los tres países. También se ofrecieron Encuentros virtuales para personas en discernimiento, enfocados en temas específicos. Los equipos se mantuvieron en contacto mediante reuniones mensuales por Zoom y reuniones presenciales (en Estados Unidos). Se ofrece oración mensual por las vocaciones a las Hermanas en México y Perú. Se amplió la participación en los congresos bianuales de RFC y NRVC. Las Hermanas visitaron preparatorias y universidades, y participaron en comités arquidiocesanos y diocesanos, así como en retiros de sensibilización.

CUIDADO DE LAS HERMANAS MAYORES El envejecimiento de las Hermanas requirió nuevas estructuras para responder a sus necesidades cambiantes. En San Antonio, el Equipo de Bienestar integrado por cuidadores laicos que ya servía a las Hermanas retiradas en The Village of the Incarnate Word necesitó una revisión. Se estableció el Centro de Cuidado Integral (CWC) con el objetivo de crear un entorno en el que cada Hermana pueda desarrollarse mental, física y espiritualmente. El CWC está conformado por un Equipo de Bienestar, una Coordinadora de Atención Pastoral y una Coordinadora de Gestión de Recursos. Una Hermana del EGL sirve como enlace con el CWC. El EGL aprueba los traslados de las Hermanas entre los distintos niveles de cuidado y acompaña las transiciones hacia la jubilación en The Village. La comunicación adecuada a la Congregación sobre el cuidado de las Hermanas se comparte por correo electrónico.

Las Hermanas en la Enfermería en México reciben atención de un equipo de Hermanas y personal laico según sus necesidades. Las dos Hermanas del EGL que viven en México informaron al EGL sobre cambios en la salud y el cuidado de las Hermanas y supervisaron las transiciones de las comunidades locales hacia la casa de retiro que es en Casa San Ángel.

With sorrow in our hearts, we lost 43 Sisters (25 from the United States and 18 from Mexico) during 2022-2026. We are grateful for those who accompanied them during their last moments of life.

Life and Mission Groups remained essential spaces for dialogue, wisdom-sharing, and communal discernment. Although participation decreased due to size, engagement remained strong. These groups offered fertile ground for intercultural exchange, intergenerational mentoring, and shared reflection. The GLT recommended their ongoing adaptation to meet emerging needs, encouraging intercultural conversations across communities and countries.

The GLT is grateful for the adaptability and resilience of the Sisters in responding to the many changes that transpired over the course of the last four years. Our Sisters were exceptional in accepting their personal challanges but also in welcoming the new realities of the Congregation and keeping hope alive. As our Congregation continues to age, we recognized the urgent need to review and adapt our housing. Through honest assessment, we discerned what we could sustainably maintain, what no longer served us, and what changes were necessary to ensure safety, accessibility, dignity, and community life for every Sister.

Con profundo dolor, durante el período 2022–2026 perdimos a 43 Hermanas (25 en Estados Unidos y 18 en México). Agradecemos a quienes las acompañaron en los últimos momentos de su vida.

Los Grupos de Vida y Misión continuaron siendo espacios esenciales de diálogo, intercambio de sabiduría y discernimiento comunitario.

Aunque la participación disminuyó debido al tamaño de los grupos, el compromiso se mantuvo fuerte. Estos grupos ofrecieron un terreno fértil para el intercambio intercultural, el acompañamiento intergeneracional y la reflexión compartida. El EGL recomendó su adaptación continua para responder a las necesidades emergentes, alentando conversaciones interculturales entre comunidades y países.

El EGL agradece profundamente la capacidad de adaptación y resiliencia de las Hermanas ante los numerosos cambios ocurridos en los últimos cuatro años. In the US, our nine sponsored ministries are governed by the US Ministry Board which reports to the General Leadership Team. Lay leadership has become essential in institutional ministries, particularly in education and healthcare.

A major international gathering was held in January 2026, titled Responding to the Call, to further strengthen our shared commitment to mission. This gathering honored the role of lay leaders and Associates, and inspired lay leaders and Associates to embrace their role as carriers of the CCVI Charism.

Associates Associate communities in Mexico, the United States, and Peru continue to live the CCVI spirituality, charism, and mission within their contexts. Each group operates with its own governance structure and formation plan, accompanied by designated GLT liaisons. Despite challenges related to leadership transitions and structural limitations, Associates remain vital partners in mission, participating actively in educational, healthcare, justice, and advocacy initiatives for the most vulnerable.

Our relationship with CHRISTUS Health remains a vital expression of our shared mission. As one of three sponsoring congregations, we continue to serve on the Member Board and, in collaboration with the partner congregations; an annual leadership Tri-Council meeting is held.

The U.S. ministry council undertook a three-phase project to strengthen mission integration: internal assessment, external validation with stakeholders, and development of recommendations; including training, online resources, and cross-ministry initiatives.

In addition, lay leadership selection, orientation to the Mission, and ongoing formation processes were refined to align with the CCVI Charism.

Mexico: The vision for restructuring of the Education Ministry Board allowed for oversight of our eight sponsored schools as a system that will support the sustainability of the mission into the future. These eight schools underwent a comprehensive process of institutional strengthening with guidance from McKinsey & Company. This assessment helped with the strategic planning which emphasized Catholic identity, academic excellence, financial sustainability, staff leadership development, and student recruitment need.

The schools responded through collaborative initiatives that fostered unity between congregational representatives, school leadership, and lay partners.

Peru: Our Sisters and Associates continue collaborating in the mission at the Santa Clara Clinic in Chimbote, Peru. In addition, an interministerial and intercongregational collaboration between our Congregation and the Sisters of Bon Secours in Peru, focused on accompanying vulnerable communities through an integrated approach that includes healthcare, migration support, education, and family and community development. Working with lay partners, we seek to strengthen local leadership, coordinate resources, and expand this collaborative model to support ministries of other congregations in service of those most in need.

The mission remains alive through multiple responses of our Sisters, Associates and lay collaborators in new and emerging initiatives and networks. Sisters live the mission through ministries of spiritual direction and counseling, accompaniment, holistic presence, social concerns, religious education, advocacy, prayer, empowerment of women and many more ways. In Mexico, the Sisters remain committed to working with the poor through Pastoral Popular.

Our collaboration with the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate WordHouston to build a school in Guatemala continues with the hope the project will become a reality in the future.

Sisters engaged in advocacy for immigrant rights, racial justice, care of the earth and human dignity through the CCVI Programs of JPIC and the Migrant, Immigrant, Refugee Network (MIRN), as well as through the Thalita Kum Network in Mexico and other networks in the US and Peru. Partnerships with other organizations strengthened the Congregation’s prophetic voice. The Congregation was able to collaborate with and support many initiatives with those

most vulnerable, migrants and immigrants, through the administration of grants from the Conrad Hilton Fund in the US and Mexico. Through our collaboration with the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, US $5,000,000 have been committed from 2022 through 2027 to support diverse projects that strengthen our Congregation, accompany and support our Sisters, and advance the work of our ministries, as well as those of many other congregations across the United States and Latin America.

Since 2022, these initiatives have helped reach more than 500,000 people and have generated collaboration with over 240 congregations and more than 600 Sisters across multiple projects. Because many congregations and Sisters participate in more than one initiative, these figures reflect total participation across projects rather than unduplicated counts.

This partnership has deepened intercongregational relationships, fostered meaningful networking and shared learning, and expanded our collective capacity to serve vulnerable communities. Global instability and travel restrictions encouraged creative virtual engagement and collaboration across borders. We are grateful for individual Sisters who continue to live out the Mission by responding to justice issues as they engage in local initiatives.

aithful stewardship guided decisions regarding property, finances, and personnel. The enhanced formation in mission of the Finance and Investment Committees developed a more knowledgeable cohesive group to make wise and mission-driven short- and long-term plans and recommendations to the GLT for the future growth of our Congregation. The Committees continued to operate during this period, with strong participation, developing deeper relationships with professional advisors and Sisters.

Special attention was given to ensuring resources supported mission, sustainability of the ministries, and the well-being of Sisters across the Congregation.

Stewardship of resources was a central focus of the GLT’s work during this period. Early efforts addressed strategic priorities such as the sale of properties, the relocation of the Generalate, and the long-term maintenance of real estate assets in the United States, Mexico, and Peru.

Discernment led to the sale of properties we could no longer manage, transitions into more accessible living arrangements, and an ongoing evaluation of how we can age with grace and adequate support. In Mexico, some Sisters living in community spaces in the schools joined other communities or moved to Casa San Angel allowing the space to be used for educational purposes. These efforts were guided in response to the realities of an aging Congregation and the need to ensure safety, dignity, and community living for the Sisters.

Recursos La administración responsable orientó las decisiones relacionadas con propiedades, finanzas y el personal. Una formación fortalecida sobre la misión de los Comités de Finanzas e Inversiones desarrolló un grupo más informado y cohesionado para elaborar planes y recomendaciones al EGL, con sabiduría y centradas en la misión, tanto a corto como a largo plazo, para el crecimiento futuro de la Congregación. Response to Chapter 2022 Mandates We immediately began work on the two mandates entrusted to us by the Chapter 2022: the sale of The Village at Incarnate Word and the relocation of the Generalate Offices. Additionally, we carried forward the ongoing repair and restoration of the Chapel of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, ensuring its beauty and sacredness were preserved for years to come. An endowment was established to care for and preserve our historical buildings and sites to include the Grotto, the Brackenridge Villa, the Chapel of the Incarnate Word, and the two cemeteries (San Antonio and St. Louis). We are hopeful this endowment will continue to be developed to serve as a vital resource to restore, preserve and protect our sacred buildings that embody our history.

As part of the Master Plan for the Campus, the former Generalate offices were vacated, and new administrative spaces were established on the second floor and undercroft (basement) of the Motherhouse.

The previous Generalate building was leased to the University of the Incarnate Word for 18 months. Plans to demolish the old building and create a new CCVI-facing entrance to our campus ministries and community spaces remains under consideration.

The proposed sale of the property of The Village at Incarnate Word to a CCVI sponsored ministry did not materialize, as the ministry lacked sufficient financial capacity. To help the Village ministry recover financially following the COVID-19 pandemic, the GLT instead chose to significantly reduce the rent. This rent reduction included conditions requiring capital improvements, which the ministry has implemented successfully yielding positive results. The Congregation removed from the lease the 2nd floor offices, 3rd and 4th floors over the Heritage Center and hospitality rooms.

As our Congregation continues to age, we recognized the urgent need to review and adapt our housing. Through honest assessment, we discerned

what we could sustainably maintain, what no longer served us, and what changes were necessary to ensure safety, accessibility, dignity, and community life for every Sister. This discernment led to the sale of properties, transitions into more accessible living arrangements, and an ongoing evaluation of how we can age with grace and adequate support.

In the United States, four properties were sold—three in San Antonio and one in Jefferson City, Missouri—with Sisters transitioning to the Retirement Center or to the Heritage Apartments located on the third and fourth floors of the Motherhouse. The Congregation also received a donated home in El Paso, Texas, and purchased a home in San Antonio to support ongoing needs.

In Mexico, we have hired a real estate agency and obtained a full assessment of the Cuernavaca property which is currently on the market to be sold.

In Chimbote, Peru, the convent housing is now utilized by the clinic.

Due to the number of Sisters in Peru, renting is the most feasible option.

In Lima, Peru two houses were sold; the Olivos house remains where the Sisters reside.

CCVI Constitutions, #16 Bank accounts and authorized signatories in Mexico were updated, and finance trainings were offered in line with new tax regulations in the country. Across all countries, financial decisions were grounded in principles of sustainability, long-term planning, and transparent governance, with attention to administrative succession and capacity-building.

These efforts demonstrate that careful stewardship is not simply a matter of finances or property—it is integral to the Congregation’s mission. By responsibly managing resources, the GLT ensured that the Sisters’ well-being, community life, and ministries could flourish, while simultaneously planning strategically for the longterm sustainability of the Congregation’s presence and mission internationally.

Este discernimiento condujo a la venta de propiedades, a transiciones hacia casas más accesibles y a una evaluación continua de cómo envejecer con el apoyo adecuado.

En Estados Unidos, se vendieron cuatro propiedades —tres en San Antonio y una en Jefferson City, Misuri— y las Hermanas se trasladaron al Centro de Retiro o a los Departamentos Heritage ubicados en el tercer y cuarto piso de la Casa Madre. La Congregación también recibió una casa donada en El Paso, Texas, y adquirió una casa en San Antonio para apoyar las necesidades actuales de vivienda de Hermanas.

En México, hemos contratado a una agencia inmobiliaria y obtenido una evaluación completa de la propiedad en Cuernavaca, que actualmente se encuentra en el mercado para su venta.

En Chimbote, Perú, el convento sigue siendo utilizado por la clínica. Debido al número de Hermanas en Perú, el arrendamiento para vivienda de Hermanas es la opción más viable. En Lima, Perú, se vendieron dos casas. La casa de Los Olivos permanece como residencia de las Hermanas.

Las comunidades y las hermanas ejercen la administración de los dones de Dios en fiel servicio a la misión de la congregación y de la iglesia” Constituciones CCVI, #16 Se actualizaron las cuentas bancarias y las firmantes autorizadas en México, y se ofrecieron capacitaciones financieras conforme a las nuevas regulaciones fiscales del país. En todos los países, las decisiones financieras se fundamentaron en principios de sostenibilidad, planeación a largo plazo y gobernanza transparente, con atención a la sucesión administrativa y al fortalecimiento de capacidades.

Estos esfuerzos demuestran que la administración responsable no es solo una cuestión financiera o de propiedades; es integral a la misión de la Congregación. Al gestionar responsablemente los recursos, el EGL aseguró que el bienestar de las Hermanas, la vida comunitaria y los ministerios pudieran florecer, al mismo tiempo que se planeaba estratégicamente la sostenibilidad a largo plazo de la presencia y misión internacional de la Congregación.

overnance emphasized co-responsibility, delegation, and clarity between canonical authority and civil administration.

Efforts continued to strengthen lay leadership structures, succession planning, and synodal listening processes. Integration of lay leadership, three-tiered governance structures, and succession planning allowed the GLT to focus on member care, formation, and long-term planning. Governance emphasized care for members as the primary ministry of leadership. Administrative responsibilities were increasingly entrusted to qualified lay professionals. Leadership was enriched by the insights from conferences- LCWR, CIRM, CLAR, CONFER in the United States, Mexico and Peru- looking toward the horizon for the way forward.

CCVI Constitutions #59 Ongoing discernment continues regarding international leadership structures and balancing canonical and civil duties. The Church called for study of the Synodal process and urged dioceses around the world to implement more listening, discernment, participation, and action among the members of the church. In that spirit, the members of the GLT committed themselves to listening to the Sisters in a deeper way. The GLT had listening sessions with the Sisters as they visited Communities throughout the Congregation. A time for questions gave the Sisters an opportunity to bring up topics of concern or interest. Monthly meetings with the retired Sisters also provided opportunities for information sharing along with time for Sisters to ask questions. Updates to all the Sisters were given periodically in person or by zoom and by the bi-weekly newsletter, and emails. We had a mid-term Assembly (Encounter) “Pilgrims of Hope in Synodality,” in which we shared our journey and received input to continue moving forward as a Congregation. The GLT had an “open door” policy, responding to Sisters as a listening presence.

Individual needs and issues of Sisters were brought to the GLT for consultation, discernment and responded to accordingly.

Continuaron los esfuerzos para fortalecer las estructuras de liderazgo laical, la planeación de sucesión y los procesos de escucha sinodal. La integración del liderazgo laical, las estructuras de gobierno de tres niveles y la planeación de sucesión permitieron al EGL centrarse en el cuidado de las Hermanas, la formación y la planeación a largo plazo. El gobierno puso énfasis en el cuidado de los miembros como el ministerio principal del liderazgo. Las responsabilidades administrativas se confiaron cada vez más a profesionales laicos calificados. El liderazgo se enriqueció con los aportes de conferencias como LCWR, CIRM, CLAR y CONFER en Estados Unidos, México y Perú, mirando hacia el horizonte el camino a seguir.

Constituciones CCVI, #59 Continúa el discernimiento respecto a las estructuras internacionales de liderazgo y al equilibrio entre las responsabilidades canónicas y civiles. La Iglesia llamó al estudio del proceso sinodal y exhortó a las diócesis de todo el mundo a implementar una mayor escucha, discernimiento, participación y acción entre los miembros de la Iglesia. En ese espíritu, los miembros del EGL se comprometieron a escuchar a las Hermanas de una manera más profunda. El EGL realizó sesiones de escucha con las Hermanas durante sus visitas a las comunidades en toda la Congregación. Un espacio para preguntas permitió a las Hermanas expresar temas de interés o preocupación.

Las reuniones mensuales con las Hermanas jubiladas también ofrecieron oportunidades para compartir información y dialogar de hermana a hermana. Se brindaron actualizaciones periódicas a todas las Hermanas de manera presencial, por Zoom, a través del boletín semanal y por correo electrónico. Celebramos una Asamblea de medio término (Encuentro) titulada “Peregrinas de Esperanza en la Sinodalidad”, en la que compartimos nuestro caminar y recibimos aportes para seguir avanzando como Congregación. El EGL mantuvo una política de “puertas abiertas”, respondiendo a las Hermanas como una presencia de escucha. Las necesidades individuales de las Hermanas se llevaron al EGL para consulta y discernimiento, y se atendieron en consecuencia.

Formation: What kind of Initial and Ongoing Formation for our Congregation is needed as Religious Life continues to evolve? How do we preserve an intercultural, intergenerational, and inter-congregational focus amid the reality of aging members? How can we offer an international process of initial and ongoing formation that promotes unity for our Congregation?

Leadership formation: What resources and training opportunities are needed for Sisters to serve on ministry boards and in elected leadership positions?

Collaboration with lay leaders: As we continue to reflect on the levels of collaboration and relationship with lay leaders, what are some tools we could use to improve the way we listen, discern, acknowledge, and incorporate the principle of subsidiarity and the wisdom of the laity involved in day-to-day operations of our Congregation?

Mission and justice: In order to further expand international collaboration and global justice initiatives, the GLT proposes that JPIC and MIRN merge under a Congregational Office of Justice led by a full-time lay leader.

Governance: How can we increase awareness and collaboration among our Sisters of the civil and administrative roles that can be carried out by professional lay persons?

As our Congregation continues to age and the numbers decline, what changes can we make in governance to ensure the continuation of our charism and mission into the future? What composition of the General Leadership Team is needed for the next four years? How many councilors? Is there a model of leadership incorporating a

multi-disciplinary collaboration of Sisters and lay leaders that we can adopt that will aid the GLT in guiding the future of our Congregation?

What we see emerging as signs of HOPE Despite challenges of aging, vitality is evident throughout our Congregation. We have lived the meaning of being Sister to Sister. Elder Sisters radiate wisdom and prayerful presence. Younger members seek new ways of living the mission. Vocation teams persevere with hope. Lay partners increasingly embrace mission, while Associates demonstrate commitment and creativity. Inter-congregational collaboration opens new avenues for service. Together, these signs confirm that the Incarnate Word is alive and calling us to incarnate and nurture prophetic hope!

These four years have been marked by growth, challenge, transition, and grace. Guided by the Chapter 2022 Call to Presence and Communion, we have not been alone as we have cared for one another, strengthened mission, and stewarded resources responsibly.

May the seeds planted during this term continue to be nurtured and to grow, revealing ever more clearly the living presence of the Incarnate Word with us.

Lo que vemos emerger como signos de ESPERANZA A pesar de los desafíos, la vitalidad es evidente en toda nuestra Congregación. Hemos vivido el significado de ser “Hermana con Hermana.” Las Hermanas mayores irradian sabiduría y una presencia orante. Las más jóvenes buscan nuevas formas de vivir la misión.
