After graduating from Jones Metropolitan High School in Chicago, Lisa continued her education at DeVry Institute of Technology. During this time, she met the love of life, her life, partner, and future husband, Ricky Brooks. They were united in holy matrimony after a lengthy relationship. The family they created started with their daughter, Briana Brooks More than twenty years later, Lisa and Ricky brought their son, Ricky Jr, into the world The Brooks family also includes four grandchildren She gave them her heart, period
Lisa developed an intense relationship with the Lord through her close bond with her mother, Mildred Hall Sitting at her mother's elbow, Lisa absorbed all that she could about the Gospel, Bible stories, Scripture, chapter and verse Lisa enjoyed listening to her mom read the bible and sing hymns Sometimes Lisa would even listen to her mother’s advice based on what thus said the Lord The seed was planted and germinated throughout the years, especially in the most recent years of her life Lisa found a home at People’s Church of the Harvest where she was baptized and became a member with her husband Ricky She always met the Holy Spirit at her church, which was revealed in her powerful praise and worship Lisa carried with her throughout the week whatever was revealed to and through her during worship service She was a powerful soldier in the army of the Lord
Like her mother, Lisa had many talents She was gifted in the area of cosmetology Lisa liked to dance her quiet, carefree, smooth style of dancing, with a cuteness She was resourceful and could stretch a few dollars better than most Under Lisa’s quiet exterior was a feisty persona punctuated with a sharp discernment She could see through nonsense and would call a thing a thing Over the years, she developed and was proud of her acquired culinary skills Lisa had a spiritual insight that was uncommon Her strong connection to Spirit was God’s gift The gift of communing with Spirit in the way that she did always excited her She often remarked that nothing really “slipped up” on her Spirit would let her know that something was on the horizon
Family members who departed this life before Lisa transitioned to a prepared place for prepared people are her parents, Mildred and Willie James Hall; and brothers Oscar J (Rosie) Hall, Sr, and Anthony “Tony” (Christina) Smith Lisa leaves a large family to gather around her husband Ricky Brooks, her children, Briana Brooks and Ricky Brooks, Jr, and her grandchildren Giannis, Genesis, Gianna and Gianni Chester, to support them in her wake That supportive family includes Earline C Hall, Rosemary Johnson, Rev Paul D (Michelle) Hall, Sr, Charmaine E Anderson, Stanley E Hall, Sr, Sandra A Hall-Brewster, Penny Hall, Marvin Smith, Donald D (Doreen) Hall, Joanne (Wayne) Lockhart, Harrison “Kirk” (Kerry) Hall, and Beverly R (Sherman) Young Lisa’s aunts E e Thornton of Oakland, CA and Josephine Jackson of Memphis, TN join with us in mourning the loss of their niece more nieces and nephews than we can count to grieve her precious soul Additionally, cousins friends and acquaintances will forever miss Lisa as well
