NEWPORT, RI—Our Marketing Coordinator was in Newport, Rhode Island just last weekend and had quite the inspiring adventure as she toured the luxurious, coastal mansions from the Gilded Age located along the Newport Cliff Walk and Bellevue Avenue. You may have heard of one popular mansion in Newport called The Marble House. As the name suggests, you can assume that much of this home was built with this luxurious, classic stone. While wandering the wide corridors of this gilded mansion, she recognized many marble features that we are incorporating into our Classic Cottages home today. In case you didn’t know, marble is back and better than ever. We know what you are thinking. Isn’t marble expensive? Isn’t it cold and hard to maintain? Be open minded. The appearance of marble has diversified over the years. What was once simple and smooth now comes in a variety of shapes, sizes, patterns, textures, and colors. We have been seeing huge trends in geometric marble designs, especially within luxurious master suite designs. Water cut mosaics in the popular hexagon shape are increasingly all the rage. With new, innovative technology, comes new ways to use marble. Heated marble flooring eliminates the stereotype that marble is cold and unappealing. If you are in the middle of the design phase for your future home, take a second to shop around and try out different materials that you wouldn’t have previously considered. As trends change, the manufacturing and price of materials change too. Marble is becoming a more affordable option for the home and its various uses are catching great momentum throughout the design world.
