In new construction or remodel projects the type of bulbs and fixtures should be more carefully selected because many new fixtures have so many additional options to consider.

Color temperature is how we create the warmth you may want in your kitchen. Light appearance provided by a light bulb or lamp, it is measured in degrees of Kelvin (K) on a scale from 1,000 to 10,000. Typically, residential lighting Kelvin temperatures appear somewhere in the range of 2700K to 6500K.

FitTrail a surprise discovery

For ArrowCreek resident Cheryl Crofoot, discovering the Fit Trail at the recreation field was life changing. Living only one block away, she didn’t know it was there, but over a year ago, discovered it one day as she was walking to the Residents’ Center. Since then, she’s been walking the trail, sometimes with her son, sometimes alone, often every day, but sometimes only a couple times a week. She has walked the trail in the snow, but the weather is a factor. If it’s sunny, not windy, and over 40 degrees, she wants to go. She uses the trail and the training it offers on her way to the gym at the Residents’ Center.

Cheryl is a health nut anyway, believing in eating 5 fruits and vegetables every day, for example, practicing yoga and getting her steps in. The trail definitely helps with those steps! For many, as the years increase, arthritis becomes an annoyance…or a pain. Cheryl believes that the more active you are, the better you feel.

There are currently over 3,500 bulbs of over 225 different daffodils that I have planted over the last six years. After blooming, I cut the dried flowers off; however, the leaves are left alone to gather energy for the bulb for next year’s blossoms. After the leaves dry up and turn brown, they can be discarded or left as mulch. Daffodils multiply and naturalize by growing baby bulbs out from the main bulb into clumps. If the original bulbs are planted four to six inches apart, it will take several years for them to get crowded. The bulb clumps can be carefully dug up, gently separated, and replanted. Most of my daffodils are in informal landscape beds but some are scattered here and there in our natural high desert area of native grasses and sagebrush. Spectacular views on the lone tree hike -by connie ghysels As the snow melts, this is a great hike leading to great views of ArrowCreek! Hiking up to the Lone Tree on the western side of ArrowCreek is a ritual that takes place at least once a year by a local women’s hiking group. My initiation was last fall and I needed my hiking poles because the route is not always along a designated trail.

The Lone Tree, west of ArrowCreek, is at the top of the first ridge. As you look toward the mountains to our west, the Tree looks to be a single Lone Tree, but it is either the last tree of the tree line or the first tree of the tree line, depending on how you look.

My group parked near the water tank at the end of High Vista and Sky Terrace Court, but the trail head at the end of Timberline Road is probably the best way to start hiking north. It is not marked.

Once you find the fire road, you have that as a guide up to a spot where the Lone Tree is to your right or North. Then you leave the fire road and traverse up a small hill, no trail, to reach a grove of

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN & REVIEW COMMITTEE It's not a mystery. The Architectural Design Review Committee, a Standing Committee of the Association created by the ArrowCreek HOA, Inc.'s Bylaws and Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions, is comprised of seven homeowner volunteers as voting members. The ADRC is assisted by architects, engineers and landscape experts in making building and improvement decisions within the community for all exterior projects.

While on the ADRC, Roger has determined that it is very hard to make everyone happy and it’s harder to say no to community members wanting to do a project to the exterior areas of their homes. But, the ADRC is committed to preserving the semi-rural high desert open space feel of Arrowcreek as outlined in the CC&Rs and the Community Design Guidelines.

As an ADRC volunteer, Roger knows that some community members do not have a high opinion of the work and services provided to the Association by the ADRC. Roger recognizes and acknowledges these opinions, since he reads social sites like Nextdoor and Yelp.

He had a 40-year career in Electrical Engineering, and he possesses a BSEE and MSEE from UC Berkeley. In his spare time, he was also successful in filing and holding three commercial patents.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) classifies pet waste as a dangerous pollutant. Dog waste carries E. coli, salmonella, tapeworms, giardia, roundworms and hookworms.

An owner may record on audiotape or any other means of sound reproduction a meeting of the executive board if the owner, before recording the meeting, provides notice of his or her intent to record the meeting to the members of the executive board and the other units’ owners who attend the meeting. Board meeting agendas will be available on the Arrowcreek.com website or through Associa Sierra North at least 10 days prior to a meeting.
