2025 Impact Report
2025 was a year of building with focus and discipline.
During a year with competing demands, our direction at CCI remained clear: expand access, strengthen the systems that support care, and ensure that what we build is sustainable.
The needs in our communities are increasingly interconnected. Patients are navigating not only health conditions, but also the realities that shape them— access to food, stable housing, and the ability to afford care. Addressing these challenges requires more than services. It requires coordination.
That is where CCI is focused.
This year, we advanced a critical component of care: access to medications. With the launch and expansion of CCIRx, our in-house pharmacy program, we are reducing barriers, improving adherence, and strengthening coordination between clinicians and patients.
We also expanded our work in prevention and long-term health. Through the Teaching Kitchen initiative and our continued growth in our WIC and CenteringPregnancy® programs, we are equipping patients with practical tools to support healthier lives.
At the same time, our clinical teams continue to deliver strong outcomes, from high rates of HIV linkage to care to expanded preventive services, demonstrating what is possible when care is accessible and well-coordinated.
None of this happens without people. Our staff and partners make this work possible every day, and their commitment is reflected in both the care we provide and the results we achieve.
As we look ahead, our path remains steady. We will continue to invest in access, strengthen our workforce, and build models of care that respond to the realities our patients face.
CCI’s role is clear. We are not simply delivering services—we are building the infrastructure that supports healthier, more stable communities.
And we will continue that work.
Sonya Bruton, PsyD, MPA CEO & President
Access to healthcare shapes how people live, work, and care for their families. Yet for many, the system remains difficult to navigate and out of reach when it is needed most.
For nearly 55 years, CCI Health Services has responded by expanding access to care in ways that are practical, community-based, and responsive to local needs. What began as a focused effort to serve at-risk youth has grown into a comprehensive system of care, including primary care, prenatal services, dental care, behavioral health, substance use treatment, HIV care, school-based services, WIC, and more.
In 2025, we continued to strengthen that system. The expansion of CCIRx, our in-house pharmacy program, increases access to affordable medications while improving coordination between patients and their care teams.
At the same time, we navigated a shifting external environment shaped by economic pressure, policy
Access to Medication
Expanding CCIRx
The launch and expansion of CCIRx marks a significant step in strengthening CCI’s model of care.
Building an in-house pharmacy program requires more than adding a service line. It involves developing specialized workforce capacity, creating compliant infrastructure for medication storage and distribution, and coordinating closely with regulatory partners.
By the end of 2025, CCIRx opened in two locations— Gaithersburg and Greenbelt—providing patients with convenient access to medications immediately following their appointments. This integration improves adherence, reduces delays in treatment, and allows pharmacists to work directly with care teams to address patient needs.
Nutrition Education
CCI's Teaching Kitchen
To support patients in maintaining their health, CCI continues to invest in services that extend beyond clinical care. Nutrition remains a central focus.
In 2025, we launched a Teaching Kitchen initiative in collaboration with our WIC and CenteringPregnancy® programs. This effort combines evidence-based nutrition education with hands-on culinary experience, helping participants translate guidance into practical, sustainable habits.
During sessions, WIC team members demonstrate culturally relevant recipes using accessible ingredients while explaining their nutritional value. Participants engage directly—preparing meals, asking questions, and building confidence in their ability to make healthy choices.
22,000+
Each session concludes with shared meals, reinforcing both learning and community connection. Participants also receive materials, tools, and ingredients to replicate recipes at home.
This approach moves beyond education alone. It builds skills, supports behavior change, and strengthens the connection between knowledge and action—particularly during pregnancy and early family life.
Additional efforts to support nutrition in 2025 included:
Launching a Priority Partners Food Cupboard at our health center in Greenbelt, accessible to both patients and the broader community
Distributing more than 796 items of fresh produce during CCI's annual Block Party
Partnering with Gilead and SLK Health Services Corporation to distribute Thanksgiving food items with HIV testing services
Together, these efforts reflect a broader commitment to addressing the conditions that influence health outcomes.
