In 2023, CCI Health Services broke ground on its largest site: a 48,000-square-foot facility on Greenbelt’s Medical Mile. One year later, the new building on Ora Glen Drive opened its doors, replacing CCI’s previous site at Franklin Park. With 64 exam rooms, 16 dental operatories, an onsite pharmacy, three waiting rooms, and dedicated spaces for administration and training, the scale and scope of this new hub are impressive.
A cornerstone of the new facility is its focus on education and workforce development. It will host training for all CCI staff and serve as the home of the CCI Family Medicine Residency Program. The building also houses the Capital Area Healthcare Career Center—a partnership with Employ Prince George’s—creating a robust pipeline for healthcare careers while expanding access to care in the local community.
Making Time for Health
Expanding Access Through Flexible Care
In Maryland, where emergency room wait times are the longest in the country, the strain is exceptionally high due to workforce shortages, limited access to care, and a densely populated state.
As primary care providers, we serve as the first line of defense against illness, mainly preventable ones. We help keep emergency rooms available for true emergencies by providing essential services like vaccinations, check-ups, and health education.
To meet our community's needs, CCI expanded its services in 2024 to include extended hours. This update allows patients to schedule virtual appointments through our patient portal, with availability until 7 PM on weeknights and from 8 AM to 1 PM on Saturdays. Several CCI locations also offer in-person Saturday appointments during the same morning hours.
School-Based Wellness Centers Together
Supporting Our Youth and Families
Any parent or guardian of a school-age child knows how difficult it can be to find a convenient time for a doctor’s appointment. Work schedules, school hours, transportation, cost, and location create barriers that can delay or prevent children from getting necessary care. CCI’s School-Based Wellness Center Program is working to remove these obstacles by bringing healthcare directly to where students already are—at school.
In 2024, CCI staff returned to schools as part of this vital program, which expands access to affordable, convenient care for teens and their families while also helping reduce school absenteeism. In partnership with the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, CCI provides primary care services in six county high schools.
More than 12,000 students and their siblings—including those without insurance—stand to benefit. Services include well-child exams, sick visits, chronic disease management, vaccinations, and referrals to additional support services, such as counseling or food assistance.
By meeting students where they are, CCI is helping ensure that every child has access to the care they need to thrive—inside and outside the classroom.

I keep returning to the saying, “We’ve been here before.” And if we’ve been here before, we know what to do: we come together. We support one another. We navigate the uncertainty as one so we can arrive safely on the other side, stronger and together.
Our community is facing some of the most challenging times in recent memory. No one has been untouched by what’s happening. Some feel the effects more immediately than others, but the ripple runs through all of us. And like in the past, moments like these remind us how essential organizations like CCI are—places people turn to for care, stability, and hope.
When I became CEO of CCI Health Services, it was amid a global pandemic that changed everything. Today’s challenges may look different, but the needs are all too familiar. People are still struggling with food insecurity, housing instability, and barriers to healthcare. And once again, they are looking to community anchors like CCI for support.
Just as we did then, we will meet this moment. We will adapt, innovate, and stand firm in our mission. We will continue providing high-quality, compassionate healthcare to all who walk through our doors. We will be a trusted partner in public health. We will remain a safe, welcoming space for those seeking care and connection.
But we know we can’t do it alone. Now is the time to come together—nonprofits, businesses, local leaders, government partners—united by a shared purpose: building a healthier, stronger future for our community. It won’t be easy, but we know the way forward because we’ve been here before. And we know how to move ahead—together.

There’s no denying the challenges of our current moment; chaos seems ever-present. But even in uncertainty, we remain committed to moving forward. Sometimes, that means taking smaller, more deliberate steps. What matters is that we keep doing what’s right for our community.
In 2025, our patients, partners, and supporters can expect to see continued growth and innovation across our services, including:
• Teaching Kitchen Program: Offering both in-person and virtual nutrition and cooking classes, the Teaching Kitchen Program will help participants learn to prepare affordable, healthy meals that support long-term wellness.
• In-House Pharmacy Expansion: By the end of 2025, CCI’s in-house pharmacy will grow to three convenient locations, increasing access to affordable medications and pharmacy support.
• PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly): In partnership with Volunteers of America, CCI will begin offering dental care to older adults through the PACE model, ensuring comprehensive, coordinated care for seniors.
• CenteringPregnancy: Our group prenatal care program is now available in Montgomery County, with participation growing as more families experience the benefits of shared support during pregnancy.
The path ahead won’t always be easy, but we’re walking it with purpose, together.
