Cantina Fongaro

La Cantina Fongaro si trova in Lessinia, nel comune di Roncà, in provincia di Verona. La nostra storia ruota principalmente attorno a tre scommesse: una sul vitigno, una sullo stile del vino e una sulla tipologia di agricoltura. La prima scommessa è stata quella di dedicarsi esclusivamente alla coltivazione del vitigno autoctono della Lessinia: la Durella. Prima di essere riscoperto, nella seconda metà degli anni ‘70, questo vitigno di origine antica era considerato montanaro, rustico e selvatico a causa della sua notevole acidità. La seconda importante scommessa che ha segnato la svolta decisiva per l’identità della nostra cantina è stata dedicarci all’esclusiva produzione di Spumanti Metodo Classico Tradizionale. Infine, la terza scommessa è stata, già nel 1985, decidere di diventare pionieri nel panorama vitivinicolo veneto abbracciando i principi dell’agricoltura biologica. Vogliamo fornire la qualità più alta possibile, producendo un vino spumante che sia, in tutto e per tutto, a regola d’arte. Un unico stile, cinque le varianti.

Cantina Fongaro is located in Lessinia, in the municipality of Roncà, in the province of Verona. Our story revolves mainly around taking a chance on three things: first on the grape variety, then on the style of wine and finally on the type of farm- ing. The first gamble was to devote ourselves exclusively to the cultivation of Lessinia’s native vine: Durella. Before it was rediscovered in the second half of the 1970s, this vine of ancient origin was considered mountainous, rustic and wild because of its considerable acidity. The second important bet that marked the turning point for the identity of our winery was to dedicate ourselves to the exclusive production of Traditional Method – Metodo Classico - sparkling wines. Finally, our third gamble was to decide, back in 1985, to become a pioneer in the Veneto wine scene by embracing the principles of organic farming and becoming one of the first organic wineries in the region. We want to provide the highest possible quality, producing a sparkling wine that is, in every way, workmanlike. One style, five variants.
