Letter From The President The 2022-2023 Impact Report highlights the indispensable work of the school’s campus supervisors and facility team members. Cathedral Catholic High School is committed to providing a safe, secure and comfortable learning environment for school employees, students, parents, visitors and community members. This would not be possible without these two departments’ dedication, genuine care and concern.

The school’s footprint includes 53 acres, 12 buildings, 98 classrooms, and 9 athletic fields and outdoor spaces. The school campus opened in 2005. Ongoing campus improvements have been the norm, including the school’s newest buildings, the McSweeney Engineering Complex and the ZAK Myers Memorial Park, opening in 2019 and 2023 respectively. Facility team members work hard year-round, but it is especially the case during the summer months when they complete campus improvement and deep cleaning projects, preparing for the surge of students in the fall.

While our facility team members keep the campus aesthetically pleasing and clean, our campus supervisors help to keep us safe. The school’s seven campus supervisors and hired weekend support provide campus supervision 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. Additionally, the school invested in about 200 new security cameras placed throughout the entire school campus to provide additional support to our campus supervisors. I know I speak for all employees when I say that we are able to carry out the important work of Catholic education because of the presence and watchful eye of our campus supervisors.

Impacts on Campus The Cathedral Catholic facilities management team had many renovation, repair and renewal projects across the school’s campus this past summer. This was in addition to the standard preparations for the surge of incoming students in the fall.

Five major categories were identified among the capital improvements, starting with the renovation of the (1) Juan Diego Building. The Dean of Students Office, Health Office, Athletic Office and Student Store were all renovated this past summer. The Dean of Students Office was painted and re-carpeted. The break room area was converted to a conference room with new cabinets and one of the offices was converted to a break area. The Health Office was completely reimagined with new flooring, new cabinets and an exterior entrance door installed. The Athletic Office was also renovated with new paint and carpet, a new conference room, two new offices and new furniture. Lastly, in preparation for the new online store operated by Cathedral Catholic, the Student Store was reimagined with a new storage area.

(2) Repairs and upgrades to the athletic facilities included the complete renovation of the Lynch/Allred Tournament Field. A new athletic scoreboard was installed at the Waitt Aquatic Center and Manchester Stadium, although the school is still awaiting permits to

complete both projects. The Claver Center and junior and senior parking lots were upgraded and/or repaired.

The gym floor was repainted and refinished, and a new lighting system was installed. The Claver Center roof was repaired, and the junior and senior parking lots were repaired, resurfaced and repainted.

(3) Assisi Hall replaced two air conditioning units, and Drexel Hall’s roof was repaired, coated and resurfaced. Drexel Hall also replaced two air conditioning units.

(4) New WiFi routers and over 200 new security cameras were installed all over campus. All VAPA classrooms had new furniture installed/ purchased, and the Mission and Ministry Office was recarpeted and repainted and has new furniture.

(5) Finally, the ZAK building in ZAK Myers Memorial Park is complete.

The construction of the ZAK Myers Food Pantry and Service Learning Center will commence in the fall.

Board of Regents Cathedral Catholic’s Board of Regents supports Cardinal McElroy and the school’s Board of Directors in providing oversight and care for the Cathedral Catholic community. Specifically, the Board of Regents consults on matters related to the school’s Catholic mission, finances, facilities, admissions, public relations and school advancement. The Regents carry out periodic evaluations of school policies, programs and objectives, always in light of the sound principles of Catholic education and social justice.
