We are grateful for their parents who willingly and generously share their time, talent and treasure in partnering with us to make Cathedral Catholic High School an outstanding school community. We are grateful for our priests and lay religious leaders who ground us in faith and inspire us to live God’s call and to build His Kingdom. We are thankful for the professional and caring administrators, counselors, teachers and staff members who lead by example in nurturing our students.

We are thankful for our security staff and members of our facilities department who work diligently to provide all of us with a safe and secure school environment. We are thankful for our beautiful school which serves us well in providing an academic setting in which all students may succeed. We are thankful for our state-of-the-art athletic facilities that allow us to play successfully at the highest levels of competition and for our visual

and performing arts programs that provide our students with a variety of opportunities to discover their many gifts.

We invite your student to take their place among us as a scholar, a leader, an athlete, an actor, an artist, a musician and a person of faith. If we are given the privilege to welcome your son or daughter to the Cathedral Catholic family, we will work diligently to help them embrace a strong moral center, a feeling of personal worth, integrity, compassion and a sense of peace.

A Cathedral Catholic education is one that your sons and daughters will carry with them long after graduating from Cathedral Catholic High School.

Our Mission

Cathedral Catholic High School is an innovative academic community of lifelong learners grounded in the Catholic faith that prepares our graduates to live God’s call and build the Kingdom.

Our Philosophy

No better learning environment exists for high school students today than a Catholic high school. Cathedral Catholic High School provides an innovative, inclusive and rigorous academic program in a nurturing environment based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and the traditions of the Catholic Church. Our educational program recognizes that each student is made in the image and likeness of God and shaped by differences in interest, ability and background.

Our collaborative community is devoted to teaching students to grow, mature and assume responsibility for their own educational and spiritual growth. In partnership with parents, we comprise a mutually supportive educational ministry committed to excellence.

Our Promise

Cathedral Catholic High School is a community built on character, faith, knowledge and responsibility since 1957.

LORD JESUS CHRIST, LET MY GIFTS CHANGE THE WORLD, HELP US LIVE THE CALL, BUILD THE KINGDOM. VENI SANCTE SPIRITUS.

COMMUNITY PRAYER

TYLER DUONG ‘25 (NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY ‘29)

I am involved in football, volleyball, Ambassadors for Christ Corps, Fellowship for Christian Athletes and the Polynesian Club at Cathedral Catholic.

So far, my favorite class has been Catholic Faith 9 with Mr. Frice. He is an amazing teacher who always allowed us to ask challenging questions to which he would respond truthfully and intelligently. He inspired us to learn.

Only at Cathedral Catholic High School is there a community so tight-knit like a family that is centralized and built on the people’s trust in Christ.

People come to Cathedral Catholic from all over San Diego and I consider myself very blessed to be able to have friends from Chula Vista to Oceanside. value these relationships because I love learning about their cultures and backgrounds.

CHARACTER

The Cathedral Catholic High School core value of character inspires our students to respect themselves and others, value diverse people and cultures, and practice ethical citizenship and leadership. Our community prayer calls for us to build the Kingdom by making moral choices to improve our community and ourselves.

“...I VALUE THESE RELATIONSHIPS BECAUSE I LOVE LEARNING ABOUT THEIR CULTURES AND BACKGROUNDS.”

FAITH

The Cathedral Catholic High School faith community is called to live the call of Jesus and reflect upon the Catholic values of charity, service and social justice. Grounded in the teachings of Jesus Christ and the traditions of the Catholic Church, our community invites students to participate in the sacramental life of the Church and to contribute to a school environment that fosters love, compassion and peace.

JULIETA ZAVALA-LEMARROY ‘26

I am involved in Drama, Speech & Debate, cross country and the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Scholarship Program at Cathedral Catholic.

My favorite class so far has been Speech & Debate Honors with Mr. Duarte. We attend tournaments outside of school and work as a team to make learning more exciting and interactive. It is also a fun, creative outlet.

Only at Cathedral Catholic High School do you find a multitude of faith and service opportunities, programs and clubs, which all branch out to their own field of expertise.

A beautiful thing I’ve found at Cathedral Catholic is the unique faith formation with my peers. Exploring my religious beliefs with people my age is such a meaningful way to grow in my faith. Each of us going through similar experiences makes me feel more comfortable in my own journey with God.

“EXPLORING MY RELIGIOUS BELIEFS WITH PEOPLE MY AGE IS SUCH A MEANINGFUL WAY TO GROW IN MY FAITH.”

RILEY LEYVA ‘24, (UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, DAVIS ‘28)

I am involved in track & field (Captain), Black Student Union, Lucky Ducklings Club, Ambassador for Christ Corps, football and rugby at Cathedral Catholic.

My favorite class so far has been Catholic Faith 10 with Mr. De Vera. I loved this class because Mr. De Vera really opened my eyes to a life of faith bigger than just praying and going to Mass. He taught me so much and connected with me on a deep level.

Only at Cathedral Catholic High School can you connect with the perfect group for you. At Cathedral Catholic, it is impossible to not find someone to be friends with. Whatever your interests are, they are shared by others.

Every day, I feel blessed to be able to go to a school that has all of my needs covered and an environment that fosters deep thinking.

KNOWLEDGE

In partnership with parents, we form an educational ministry that is mutually supportive and a community committed to excellence. It is our intent that our graduates carry a spirit of intellectual curiosity and a love for learning on their continuing journey of personal growth. Cathedral Catholic High School is a recognized leader in Catholic, college preparatory education, equipping students for success in the 21st century.

“...I FEEL BLESSED TO GO TO [CATHEDRAL CATHOLIC]... AN ENVIRONMENT THAT FOSTERS DEEP THINKING.”

RESPONSIBILITY

Cathedral Catholic is a collaborative community dedicated to lifelong learning and to teaching students to assume responsibility for their own educational and spiritual growth. Students are called to apply their gifts to change the world and to become responsible leaders committed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

SIENNA KOTSAY ‘23 (UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ‘27)

During my time at Cathedral Catholic, was involved in the Options Program as a Peer Mentor, Student Life and Leadership (ASB), Ambassador for Christ Corps, National Honor Society (President), Eye Fight for Sight Club and Charity (Co-President), California Scholarship Federation, volleyball (beach & Indoor) and the Varsity Rowing Team.

My favorite class was AP Psychology with Mr. Caro. He is an amazing teacher who truly cares about each of his students. The class was very interesting and allowed me to learn so much about psychology.

Only at Cathedral Catholic High School do you find a community that becomes your family.

My role as a Peer Mentor in the Options Program was one of my favorite experiences during my time as a student at Cathedral Catholic. will always cherish the friendships made and becoming an options mentor was by far the best decision I made throughout high school.

“...BECOMING AN OPTIONS MENTOR WAS BY FAR THE BEST DECISION I MADE THROUGHOUT HIGH SCHOOL.”

Campus Tours

Campus tours are conducted by appointment. Tours are led by a member of our Office of Enrollment Team and a student ambassador. Parents and students are both encouraged, but not required, to take a tour.

Shadow Visits - “Don for a Day”

To get a firsthand look at a day in the life of a Don, we encourage 8th-grade students to spend a morning with a current student. Shadow visits are scheduled by appointment with the Office of Enrollment.
