“I have seen Christ” Your support brings hope to the brokenhearted Over the past couple of years, Sandra has dealt with grief in many ways. She said good-bye to several loved ones, including her husband and parents. It can be hard to take care of your health when your loved ones pass away because there are so many other things that need to be done. The energy it takes to make it through the day can be overwhelming. Sandra found herself in urgent care one day underweight, dehydrated, and ill. That’s when she realized she needed to remember to care for herself in the midst of tragedy. The urgent care office referred her to Christ Community Health. “I’d be dead if this clinic weren’t here. I was so sick and couldn’t deal with it all. Christ Community has turned around so many of my illnesses and they’re helping me smile again,” Sandra adds, “I’ve seen Christ at this clinic and have been reminded that God is with me.” God uses the support of people like you to bring joy to the brokenhearted and healing to patients like Sandra.

Eight years ago Charles started coming to Christ Community with so many health issues he didn’t even know where to begin. “I had cataracts so I couldn’t see.I could hardly walk. I had liver issues, including cirrhosis of the liver. I had a heart attack. The doctors here helped me find specialists and made sure I was doing what I needed to. I’m doing so much better now.” Your support helps patients like Charles receive continued care so that as issues come up, there’s a health professional to walk them through it and to encourage them with prayer.

Growth November marks my 9th anniversary as the Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner at Christ Community. As I reflect on the last 9 years, one word comes to mind: growth. Growth has been the norm since the beginning. We have grown from a staff of 4 people to 80. From 1 clinic to 2. From offering just primary care to adding gynecology, dentistry, and physical therapy. “How?” you may ask. Through God’s unlimited resources. I’ve seen God provide in ways I couldn’t have imagined. He provided the opportunity to be part of Christ Community on the same day I lost my previous position in public health due to state budget cuts. He provided affordable healthcare to our city by the generous donation of the historic Widows Home. He provided one of my patients, an addict and prostitute, who felt she had lost her humanity due to her brokenness, with medical care and the hope of the Gospel. God desires to give us everything we need to accomplish what He has called us to do. It’s His joy. “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” [2 Peter 1:3]. Thank you for being a part of God’s provision for our community! Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive sight, and lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and poor have good news preached to them.
