THE FUND FOR CENTRAL CATHOLIC

MEET LISA AND EDDIE YBARRA ‘83

Dear Central Catholic Family, Whoever would have thought that the dreams of two children would come to fruition?

My name is Eddie Ybarra, and I graduated class of 1983. After seeing my first Central Catholic High School basketball game, when I was 12 years old, I wanted to be a part of this Brotherhood. Lisa was in 4th grade when her neighbor would take her to the Central Catholic football games, and eventually, she went to Incarnate Word High School to cheer for Central Catholic in ‘83-’84. By the fall of 1979, I was walking the hallways and playing basketball for coach Joe Cortez and would eventually serve as Student Council President my senior year, 1983.

Fast-forward to the early 90s, our professional careers crossed paths at Central, and our Marianist journey began. It’s been over 30 years, and we can confirm that it is both the culture and the community with whom our family (Lauren IWHS ‘12, Lianna IWHS ‘14, and Jacob CC’ 20) have walked alongside. Many young men, Marianist brothers, priests, lay teachers, and coaches define this campus. Deemed as our second home, we have seen our facilities grow, educate for life, and continue to form students to be Christ-like and work for the common good.

I believe God has placed a desire for greatness within every young man. The mission of Central Catholic has always been constant – forming boys to become men within a Marianist tradition. The formation is about taking boys and shaping them into great men. Central Catholic men lead their families and communities because they are first able to lead themselves. More importantly, this all started with their journey in the hallways, classrooms, and the playing fields of Central Catholic.

Central Catholic High School is an institution with a strong sense of tradition and legacy. I invite you to join me in supporting the mission of Central Catholic so that we can continue to form the next generation of faith-filled leaders and continue the brotherhood. The Marianists continue to pray for all our benefactors daily, and they ask for your prayers that generous people will join us in support of Central’s Catholic’s mission.

With Loyal Hearts…
