JAPANESE CULTURAL CLUB UPDATE

SUMMER IS HERE- STAY HYDRATED

June is a month full of activities such as graduation, weddings, vacations and of course Father’s Day This should be a fun month with children out of school and time spent gardening, but we should be aware of heat exhaustion. It’s important for all seniors to stay hydrated. As it gets warmer, it is more difficult to stay hydrated. The heat makes us sweat more, meaning we need to make up for this by drinking lots of water So, enjoy the summer with cool drinks

June Events: 2 – Woody and Friends

9 - Bingo

16 – Birthday/Orange Express

23 – Healthy Living for your Brain

30 – Cybergeneration – Freezing and Unfreezing your credit report

May Events: Our Show and Sell event held on Tuesday, May 6, was a success, thanks to all of you who donated or bought items On May 5 We learned about Shigin which is a performance of chanting a poem in Japanese with rules of tone, breath and voice. Sensei Hideko Tokugawa and her students chanted their poems which helps also for clarity of the mind. On May 13, Sensei Brian Suzuki showcased his students as they sang Japanese songs. It was so refreshing to hear such melodious voices on a Monday morning On May 19, the versatile group Zenidaiko entertained us with a variety of specialized dances. They performed in beautiful costumes and used a variety of instruments which made it very entertaining,

Tanjoubi Omedetou Gozaimasu to: Mona Bernardo; Erna Cabral; Puna Frank; Glenn Kodama; Jean Murakami; Teresa Sasaki; Mildred Suzuki; Frank Toma; and Alice Tsutsumi. Wishing you all the very best on your special day,
