(A Last) LETTER FROM THE (Old) PREZ Dear Friends, As many of you know, last summer the unimaginable happened when my son Liam fell asleep and drove into a tree. He was not wearing his seatbelt and died instantly. Last fall I took a leave of absence from the Board of Directors of the art center. As time went by, I found that I was unable to return to that role and withdrew from the board. Truth be told it was time for me to move on in any case. I had occupied that chair for almost 15 years. That’s enough time for one person. I was worn out and not providing the leadership that I once did. Time to let someone else have the opportunity. The Center has come a long ways in the past 15 years. I feel proud of all that has been accomplished. We have experienced a lot of good times and weathered some tough times. All in all it has always been an adventure – an adventure that I am very happy to have been part of. Over the years, I have worked hard with many fun, interesting, and creative people, and that’s really what it is all about. It’s been a pleasure to have worked beside so many dedicated people – people that get and appreciate what the Art Center is all about. One of those people is of course our fearless leader, David Kuehn. I remember, as if it was yesterday, the day seven years ago that I met David for the first time. Over some oysters and glasses of wine we explored what a community art center could be. Over the years that vision has been more than realized. It has changed and grown and gone places where we couldn’t even begin to imagine back then. Thank you David for being here and for being my comrade in arms. This past winter, when I needed to step down from the board, I was very grateful that Kathie Nutting was able and wanting to step into the President of the Board role. I felt and still feel very good handing the
reigns over to Kathie. I have great confidence in her ability to lead the organization. She understands governance and complements David’s skillset in many ways. They work well together. The full board is strong and should be a strong base upon which David and Kathie can move forward. The staff, volunteer, and artistic base is strong. As a retiring President of the Board, I can ask for nothing more than that. I have performed many roles at the Center across the years – business manager, grant writer, graphic designer, janitor, repairman, site planner, visionary, set builder, foreman & designer, sound designer, video designer, technical director, production planner, event planner, musician, visual artist, the ghost of Christmas present, educator, programming planner, board president, fundraiser, and donor. While I have enjoyed almost all of these roles, my favorite has been that of visionary – helping to define the role and purpose of the organization within our community and helping to lead the organization in that direction. I strongly feel that the Art Center plays an important role in our community. Anybody who has been around me for more than five minutes knows that while I think that the art and educational aspects of the Center are germane to its mission, it is the social and community-building role of the Center that is most significant to the vitality of our community. This social wellbeing is built on a strong base of the arts. I will continue to be part of the Center. I remain committed to its mission. I have a strong compassion for all the people involved. I remain committed as ever to the art and the community. I’m not sure what role I will play or when and how I will play that role, but I will always remain part of the Center, as the Center will always be part of me. Thank you. Sincerely, Jim Hoeck
LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT Hello! Welcome to Cotuit Center for the Arts. Planning may not be the topic you’d expect to read about in an arts center program book, but planning is a key factor in making the Center such an amazing place. As a planner-type person, I have a deep appreciation for all the planning and work David and his team coordinate to bring you the exceptional theater, music, art, and education you expect. Planning to ensure the long-term viability of the Center is a key responsibility of the Center’s Board of Directors. This past Fall, the Board and staff took two days to think about and plan for the Center’s future. We discussed everything that makes the Center The Center. Our discussions were thoughtful, direct, and honest. We discussed in depth our mission and the challenges we face. All acknowledged the importance of the Center in our community and what the Center could and would and should look like in the future. The level of engagement was inspiring. By the end of the second session we had agreed on our strategic priorities for the next five years and best of all we had a plan. We had a plan! The vision for the future of the Center has three strategic priorities: financial sustainability, organizational structure, and enhancement of the campus. Success factors have been defined for each of the strategic priorities. David, with the support and involvement of the staff and Board of Directors, has developed and implemented plans setting the Center towards the future and achieving the goals and objectives defined in the strategic vision. It may all sound a bit dull, but the reality is this work is truly exciting. We are making the Center stronger with a solid foundation on which to build for the future. So where do you fit in our strategic plan? With a focus this year on financial sustainability and stability, there are numerous ways you can support the Center and ensure its future. If you aren’t a member yet, please join us! If you are a member, how about joining the Center Circle level and enjoy its extra membership benefits? Do you have a business? Become one of our sponsors. Welcome to Cotuit Center for the Arts! If this is your first visit, I hope it’s the first of many. We are so much more than a theater, a gallery, a classroom – we are a vibrant community. We are a welcoming hub where everyone can find a way to be fulfilled. I have often said that I believe the arts are as important to our well-being as the food we eat and the air we breathe. What has developed on this campus over the last several years is remarkable and special. Thousands of you call Cotuit Center for the Arts your cultural home. Whether you volunteer, attend theater productions and concerts, make important financial contributions, or take classes, you are the reason we continue to reach for the highest possible artistic quality. We’ve just completed a new fiveyear strategic plan and have some exciting new changes in the makeup of our board. Kathie Lynch Nutting has agreed to assume the role of president of the board, giving Jim Hoeck a well-deserved break from a role he’s held for many years. I’m excited about this for two reasons. First, Kathie and her husband Paul

have been patrons of the Center for many years, and they share the pride and enthusiasm so many of you express for the incredible value this arts center brings to our community. Kathie’s enthusiasm for our programs and her generosity of spirit toward our volunteers and staff, plus her impressive management background, make her a perfect successor to an amazing leader. Which takes me to my second point. I have had the great privilege of working with Jim Hoeck since he brought me to the organization seven years ago. Cotuit Center for the Arts would not be here today without Jim’s passion and unparalleled
generosity. I have learned so much, shared so many dreams, and most importantly have lifetime friendships with Jim and Gin. And the best part is that he’s not leaving — he’s going to be helping us with all kinds initiatives going forward. And forward we go. Cotuit Center for the Arts completed an extensive assessment, over 20 hours of training and consulting and extensive internal planning and change to better integrate volunteers in our day-to-day operations. NUNSENSE by Dan Goggin March 23 – April 9 Join us for the Cotuit production of this classic musical comedy! Nunsense is a hilarious spoof about the misadventures of five nuns trying to manage a fundraiser (their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters, and they are in dire need of funds for the burials). Featuring star turns, tap and ballet dancing, an audience quiz, and comic surprises, this show has become an international phenomenon.

Sunday in the Park with George by Stephen Sondheim July 6 – 30 This stunning masterpiece centers on enigmatic painter George Seurat and his search for love, inspiration, and “the art of making art.” One of the most acclaimed musicals ever, this Pulitzer Prize winner features a glorious score. One Man, Two Guvnors by Richard Bean October 5 – 22 Come laugh with us! This uproarious comedy features slapstick at its finest, with actors falling down stairs, slamming doors, using double entendre, and interacting with the audience. The permanently ravenous Francis Henshall finds himself working for both a gangster and a criminal in hiding, both of whom are linked in a web of schemes, extortions, and romantic associations. To prevent discovery, Francis must do everything he can to keep his two guvnors apart.

2017 MORE THEATER Shostakovich Triumphant: Every Good Boy Deserves Favor
May 6 & 7 At the Barnstable Performing Arts Center Jung-Ho Pak, Conductor Cotuit Center for the Arts is thrilled to collaborate with the Cape Symphony in their season finale concerts. In a rare theatrical event, the Cape Symphony will pair one of the most dramatic symphonies ever written, Symphony No. 5 by Dmitri Shostakovich, with an extraordinary play for actors and orchestra by AndrĂŠ Previn and Tom Stoppard, Every Good Boy Deserves Favor. Both works are a response to political oppression and celebrate freedom of thought. For the first time ever, the Cape Symphony is partnering with Cotuit Center for the Arts to present this powerful music and play in one moving tribute to the enduring nature of the human spirit.

Neil Grant: Sculptor
Neil Grant is an English sculptor who has recently finished a twenty-year corporate career to dedicate himself to his craft. Neil has been sculpting for the past seven years and has studied under nationally recognized sculptors such as Philippe Faraut and Brian Booth Craig. Neil recently began teaching portrait sculpture classes here at Cotuit. CCftA: So excited to talk to you, Neil! How did you come to be an artist? NG: I was working as a corporate executive in Miami eight years ago and after a stressful day at the office, I found myself playing with one of the kid’s Play-Doh sets. I thought, “This is very relaxing. I wonder if I can make something.” My first sculpture was a goblin drowning in a sea of paperwork. It all took off from there: I graduated from Play Doh to clay and then interview by Christine Ernst

began to find people who could teach me to sculpt. I’ve studied under some great sculptors such as Philippe Faraut and Brian Booth Craig. About 18 months ago, I decided to take the plunge and become a full-time sculptor. CCftA: So how’d you end up on the Cape? NG: It’s actually my wife’s fault. She finished her Masters and was looking for a job at the same time I had finished working to sculpt full-time. She found a position in
Yarmouth and so we moved from our home in Tennessee. We’ve been here nearly a year now and really love it.
with the appetite to learn more and go on to produce great art. I’m a firm believer that art can be taught, no matter whether you think you have a talent for it or not.
CCftA: Can you tell us a little about your home life?
CCftA: Finally – why do you create art?
NG: My wife Kelly and I have two daughters – Charlotte and Sophie – who are 11 and 8 years old respectively. We have also recently adopted a rescue dog for the kids. His name is Pete. He is rather naughty but well-loved nevertheless. CCftA: Why do you like teaching at the Center? NG: The Center has been supersupportive of setting up a ceramics program in Cotuit. There was nothing locally when I arrived on the Cape, and now we have a classroom we can use and we are in the process of installing a kiln at the Center. Hopefully this is the start of something bigger. I’d like to expand the types of sculpting courses being offered in Cotuit and work with the Center to introduce hand building and pottery as time progresses. It’s a pleasure to teach at the Center because the staff are enthusiastic and I get to work with some great students.
NG: For me, art is how I put my ideas out into the world. While I’m a representational sculptor, I like my art to be more than just a realistic copy of the model. In each piece I make I want to convey either an emotion or message to the viewer. Because of this, my art can be humorous, political, emotional etc. – but hopefully not boring. CCftA: Oh, wait – how about a nifty fact about yourself? NG: I’m actually a qualified Marine Biologist. I’ve also starred in a Bollywood production in India.
CCftA: And what do you hope your students will take away from your class? NG: The aim of my class is to demystify sculpting and to teach its techniques in easy to follow steps so that students can produce pieces they can be proud of. I hope that at the end of a course students walk away

THE ART OF MAKING ART by David Kuehn
“Bit by bit, putting it together. Piece by piece, only way to make a work of art. Ev’ry moment makes a contribution, every little detail plays a part. Having just the vision’s no solution, ev’ry thing depends on execution.” I’m often asked how our programming season is chosen. It’s a difficult question to answer. At the end of the day, I have to make a decision. It’s not something that can be made by committee – there would never be consensus! I strive for balance – musical comedy, musical drama, productions where children and

families participate both on stage and as audiences, works that challenge and make us uncomfortable, new works, classic works. I look at the history of what we’ve done. I think of the budget – the bottom line. We need to be commercially successful, but we also want to be artistically adventuresome. Then I close my eyes
and go to sleep, and the shows our talented actors and directors have begged me to present flood my dreams in a loud cacophony: Urinetown! Sweet Charity! Annie Get Your Gun! An Enemy of the People! Arabian Nights! Chess! Rent! My Fair Lady! Psycho Beach Party! Roar of the Grease Paint! Of Mice and Men! Barfly! 6 Characters in Search of and Author! Freud’s Last Session! Drowsy Chaperone! Hairspray! Carousel! Man of LaMancha! Mother Courage! Assassins! OK – you get the picture.
“Art isn’t easy. Ev’ry minor detail is a major decision, have to keep things in scale, have to hold to your vision.” In addition to the main stage theater productions, we produce eleven or twelve shows in the Black Box, plus all kinds of concerts and special events. And of course, we are first and foremost an arts education organization. There is an educational component to everything we do – not just in the classroom, but in our programming. We educate audiences. And we try to crosspollinate our programs wherever possible. Our Musical Theater Dance Workshop is a natural springboard inspiring young students to audition for our shows and work on our crews. There are visual and literary arts classes where we inspire students to work on our sets and costumes and write their own works to share at the monthly Salon of Shorts. Audience members, actors, directors, and crew members make their wish lists known to me – the projects they want to attend, act

in, help with a creative vision, etc. There are literally hundreds of options for programming the main stage each year and all of the aforementioned considerations go into the four or five big productions we mount each year.
“A vision’s just a vision if it’s only in your head. If no one gets to see it it’s as good as dead.” It’s been a dream of mine to present Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park With George. It’s a challenging masterpiece. So brilliantly conceived – so many of the themes that run through the show resonate with me personally and are relevant to the Center. The musical will be presented in July and will coincide with “Piece by Piece III”, a large recreation of an iconic artwork reimagined by around 150 local artists collaborating in what will be one of the most stunning and HUGE exhibitions on the Cape. Themes of “Color and Light” will resonate throughout the gallery and throughout our classes. And the theme of “putting it together” will be prevalent in everything we do this year. From The ABCs of NYC II to a bunch of crazy singing nuns, to a British farce and a new twist on the beloved holiday classic Annie, we want to share with you how we put it all together. Piece by Piece III This summer, Cotuit Center for the Arts is thrilled to present the latest incarnation of our recurring exhibit concept: Piece by Piece III.

Piece by Piece III will be a large-scale collaborative installation featuring 150 artists from Cape Cod. The participating artists will meet at the Center on April 2nd, where they will receive a fifteen-inch square white panel and a three-inchsquare randomly selected piece of an iconic painting.
The 150 separate pieces will be installed on the gallery wall at the opening reception, which begins at 5 PM on June 24th. As the panels are hung, a masterpiece of grand proportions—13 feet high by 19 feet wide—will be revealed, piece by piece, reflecting the talent, creativity, and imagination of the participating artists, as much as that of the original artist.

to be sold throughout the exhibition, with the proceeds split between the artists and the Center. Winners will receive a random panel at the close of the exhibition. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit both the Center and the artists who participated in the show.
Easily among the most aweinspiring installations we have put together, the Piece by Piece projects have always been very popular with our patrons. The June 24th panel installation celebration, where patrons witness the panel pieces being assembled, is an event not to be missed.
The show is funded in part by the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod and will help to raise awareness of the large number of working artists on the Cape.

A Little Theater
Article by Christine Ernst, Director of Education Kids these days! They’re everywhere – underfoot, on the stage, behind the scenes, in the dressing rooms – sheesh – every time I turned around in 2016, there was some kid rehearsing a show or performing in one. We had 54 kids under the age of 18 perform on our stages last year. Ages 6 to 17, they contributed a whopping 9828 hours to the success of our productions. The math works like this: auditions + rehearsals + memorizing lines and blocking and music + driving to and from the theater + costume fittings + 12 or 14 or 20 performances = roughly 182 hours per performer x 54 kid performers = 9828 hours. But wait – not to mention the drive time for parents who take their kid back and forth from the theater roughly 45 times

during the course of a mainstage production. So – if each trip (get the kid into the car + run back in the house because they forgot their script or their dance shoes or their water bottle + drop the kid off + go back home or get the groceries done or run a few errands or stick around to see how this theater thing works and why the kid loves it so much + go back 2 or 3 or 6 hours later + wait in the parking lot because it’s a tech rehearsal and they are going late + drive back home + drop another kid off on the way + unload the kid and the script and the dance shoes and the water bottle) = roughly 1.25 hour of driving time give or take assuming you don’t live that far away = 60 hours per parent driver x say 45 parent drivers since there were some carpools and teenagers with licenses in
2016 = 2700 additional parent driving hours + the aforementioned 9828 hours = a grand total of 12,528 hours donated by kids and their parents to our mainstage productions last year. Whoa. Now wait – the math on the value of those hours is even more startling: the current value of one adult volunteer hour, according to the Corporation for National and Community Service, is $23.56. Even when that amount is adjusted to an arbitrary 50% kid rate of $11.78, and not undervaluing the contribution of the driver parent, this donation = $179,385.54. Holy. Smokes. Now – in return, these kids get to do the most rewarding most exciting thing in the world (parent chauffeurs – not so much) – they get to participate in the creation and performance of live theater – an endeavor that teaches the
value of community, self-expression, history, curiosity, creativity, patience, discipline, self-respect, work ethic, tolerance, confidence, collaboration, unity, esprit de corps, fellowship, and friend-making, to name a few. Also – it’s fun. It. Is. So. Much. Fun. Now – count them – 9828 hours not spent in front of a screen, not spent hanging around, not spent at the mall, on the street, at the arcade – 9828 hours not spent idle, bored, looking for trouble. 9828 hours spent in a theater – creating something unique and amazing and unforgettable. So – and sorry to all the parent chauffeurs – your kid (or grandkid, or neighbor kid, or niece, nephew, the kid in and around your life) needs the Center. Get them on stage. 182 hours? That is just the beginning. And $179,385.54 worth of volunteer time and energy and good intent? That’s a great deal. A great deal, indeed. Do it. At Cotuit.

with SETH RUDETSKY Seth is the afternoon host on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio’s ON BROADWAY as well as the host of SETH SPEAKS on Sirius/XM Stars. As a pianist, Seth has played for more than a dozen Broadway shows including RAGTIME, LES MIZ and PHANTOM. He was the Artistic Producer/ Music Director for the first five annual Actors Fund Fall Concerts, including DREAMGIRLS with Audra MacDonald, and HAIR with Jennifer Hudson. In 2007 he made his Broadway acting debut playing Sheldon (singing “Magic to Do” in a devastating unitard) in THE RITZ directed by Joe Mantello for The Roundabout Theater. Off-Broadway he wrote and starred in the critically acclaimed RHAPSODY IN SETH (directed by Peter Flynn) at the Actors Playhouse and has also appeared on TV on LAW AND ORDER C.I. and had a recurring role on ALL MY CHILDREN. As an author, he penned the non-fiction Q GUIDE TO BROADWAY, the novel BROADWAY NIGHTS and the recently published MY AWESOME/AWFUL POPULARITY PLAN (Random House). Seth played himself on Kathy Griffin; My Life on the D-List, was the vocal coach on MTV’s LEGALLY BLONDE reality show, and starred opposite Sutton Foster in THEY’RE PLAYING OUR SONG for the Actors Fund. Recently, he co-wrote and starred in DISASTER! (which the NY TIMES called a “triumph”), and he currently writes a weekly column on Playbill.com and tours the country doing master classes and performing his one-man show “DECONSTRUCTING BROADWAY”. Amy Canaday Have you ever wondered where our fantastic costumes come from? The basement below your seat is a wondrous place filled with sewing machines and thread racks, bins full of trim, hats on rafters, and rich, textured material folded in neat squares that speak of possibility. While many of us pass through the costume area and gaze dreamily at the racks of clothing and accessories thinking of nothing more than to have an afternoon to try it all on, there is one person who views the whole stockpile as serious business. Meet Amy Canaday, our costume designer! Amy and her husband Dan live in Cotuit in a house that’s only 4 minutes from the Center, a location that Amy claims is closer than anyone else in the Cotuit Center for the Arts family! Amy grew up in Erie, PA, where she met her husband Dan, a native Bostonian. After living in Chicago, Philadelphia, Erie, and Boston, they arrived on the Cape when Dan, an oncologist, received a job offer. They originally landed in Yarmouth Port but relocated to Barnstable in order to be more centrally located between the two hospitals where Dan works. Amy (who is by her own admission hopelessly attached to making things with her hands – including fabrics, jewelry, and metal work) quickly found her way through our front door. Her young daughter Nora wanted to take Interview by Tracy LaBonte
a class with our Visual Artist, Michelle Law. After that class, she went on to take Michele Colley’s Musical Theater Dance Workshop when she was 8 years old. Soon to be a high school senior, you may recognize Nora from our stage where she has appeared for the past 10 years in various productions, starting with Anything Goes, a show that both she and Amy were in during their high school years. In fact, the first Broadway show Nora ever saw was Anything Goes, starring Sutton Foster, and the Canadays are thrilled to get the chance to see her again right here in Cotuit this August! As any stage mom knows, there are many hours spent waiting in the dark corners of theaters or camped out with cups of tea in the various parking lots across the Cape. Amy quickly realized that she could be using that time to volunteer on the productions in which Nora was cast. She took a millinery class in college so she thought she would start with hats. From there she branched out into all sorts of costuming, discovering what we all know about Amy, which is that she has a real talent for designing and sewing! Amy has done costumes for many Cotuit productions including Anything Goes, Willy Wonka, Christmas in Cotuit, Spamalot, Gypsy (the famous cow!), Oklahoma, Scrooge, Nunsense, and now Sunday in the Park With George. In addition to working with us, Amy lends her talents to

often plan ambitious trips with their large, extended families.
Barnstable High School where she has worked in productions for the past four years, and she also occasionally works at other theaters on the Cape when she can find some time away from CCftA.
We asked Amy with all of this “creating” going on, what item tops her wish list for tools to do her job? She responds instantly with a Glowforge, which is a personal laser cutter. It’s not available on the market yet but she’s eagerly put her name on the waiting list to try and obtain one of these nifty items, although she admits it means saving her pennies. We don’t personally know what this magical Glowforge is but we do know one thing, which is that if it keeps Amy making her glorious costumes, we are all for it!
So, what of the men in her family, husband Dan and eighth grade son Declan? They are very patient, Amy says. Also they are a perpetual audience for Amy and Nora’s theatrical endeavors. Amy jokes that they often can’t find their belongings or a place to sit down around the house because every surface becomes a place to work and store costumes. The Canaday ladies find time for their men in the form of travel – a hobby all four of them share. They have many adventures under their belt and

Board Member Spotlight
Don Megathlin
You might recognize these two people from around The Cotuit Center for the Arts. They are Don and Karen Megathlin! Don is a member of our board, a post he has proudly held at the Center since 2012. Don is dedicated to the arts as one can see from his past board memberships at the Cape Cod Museum of Art, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts (Sargent Society), and the Portland Museum of Art, for a total of almost 15 years. Don credits his mother with developing his keen interest in art and music as well. She was a fine artist who painted representational art in watercolors and oils, and exhibited at several Cape galleries, and she and Don spent many hours at Boston’s MFA when Don was a child. Don says that the main reason he got involved at Cotuit was that he liked the idea of a “cultural center”– an arts space with a diversity of programs available to the community, including not just fine arts but performing arts and education classes, too. At Cotuit Center for the Arts, he serves as Chair of the Governance Committee and a member of the Facilities Committee. Brought up in the city of Boston, Don has lived in metropolitan Boston for the majority of his life with the exception of ten years in Portland, Maine. His 40-year career spanned jobs as a

municipal and state executive regarding land use and economic development in Portland and Boston; a city planning and real estate consultant in Boston with national practices; and as a real estate developer in Boston. Don and Karen married in 2002, after being introduced by mutual friends. Don has three children and seven grandchildren (three of them college-aged), and all of them live in New England. His children and grandchildren have been exposed to theatre and art, and have been to the Center to see how Don and Karen take in culture in their own backyard. In 1989, Don (an only child) moved to the Cape to be closer to his parents. But interestingly, they weren’t the first Megathlins on Cape Cod. His family history traces back to a small town near Glasgow, Scotland (Strathlachlan) and a clan member, Clan MacLachlan, lives in the town’s castle even today! In 1696, one of the famous Cape Cod Families named Nickerson rescued a young Megathlin, (still called MacLachlan at that time). The boy was a 10 year-old stowaway on a cargo ship in New York, and he then settled on Cape Cod. The family has been living here continuously ever since. We asked Don if he has any interesting facts about himself that we didn’t know about (something we love to ask Board Members!), and he revealed to us that throughout the 1970s, 80s, and 90s, he performed as an Elvis impersonator (which he did at the Center in 2015); he played the demented Grandmother in Willy Wonka, a role he confesses fit him perfectly; and he is also a fiber artist working with yarn and wood to create three-dimensional pieces, some of which he displayed at our most recent Member Art Exhibit in our Gallery. So if you see Don and Karen around the Center, strike up a conversation with these lovely and interesting folks. We’re happy to have them in our Cotuit Family!

Bill Farrell CCftA: How long have you been volunteering at the Center? Bill: 4 years CCftA: Tell us a little about yourself. Bill: My wife, Janis, and I live in Cotuit and also still own a house in Abington as I have a son, Drew and granddaughter, Juliette, who live in Abington. I taught high school social sciences at Plymouth North High School, and coached boys high school soccer for 35 years. I have a small company that builds and maintains ponds, waterfalls, and other water features. CCftA: How did you first get involved? Bill: My wife and I became members and while attending shows, I noticed that the ushers were a friendly group who were having fun. It seemed to be a fun and welcoming place and we wanted to get involved! So, we began by being ushers. CCftA: What kinds of volunteer work do you do? Bill: Ushering, set building, general fix-up work around the campus, reorganizing/creating available space in the basement. Helped renovate the Black Box. CCftA: Why do you volunteer at the Center?
Bill: I volunteer at CCftA because the people who work and volunteer there are friendly and appreciative. Also think it’s important to contribute to the community, and I get a sense of belonging to something of worth. CCftA: What is your favorite part of volunteering at the Center? Bill: Absolutely my favorite thing about volunteering at CCftA is the people, both the staff and the volunteers.
