In Loving Memory of Jeff Jacobs

Meet: Alyssa Lax I’m New Here! Hi,

Where are you from?

I'm originally from So in a town that's halfw Palm Springs. It was throughout the summ the heat so I figured

Where do you work?

I work in the Survivor Support Program at the Clark County Volunteer Lawyers Program.

How long have you been working in Clark County?

I've been working in Clark County since February and was admitted to practice in Washington in June.

How are you liking it so far?

Clark County has been so welcoming! I have really enjoyed working in a mid-sized bar; I went to law school in a county with a bar of 9000+ and just before coming here I worked in a county with a bar of about 60. I like that the Clark County legal community has a lot to offer yet is still close-knit and it's fairly easy to get to know people.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I feel really lucky to have great colleagues. Sometimes the work is tough, but doing it alongside an amazing team makes weathering the challenges and celebrating the wins that much better.

What neighborhood do you live in?

I live over the bridge in the Portland area.

Do you have any pets?

C’mon, look at that sweater! Favorite vacation? Favorite restaurant in

There are so many great restaurants in the area, so it's hard to choose. A standout for me is DarSalam, especially the downtown Portland location. The food is delicious, the service is great, and they make a killer beet margarita.

Drink of choice - beer, wine, coffee?

Scotland and Ireland--I was there at the end of February in 2020 and flew back just days before lockdown was announced. I had the opportunity to stay in a 500-year-old castle just outside of Inverness that had previously been a jail/courthouse and even stayed in the suite that had been a courtroom. It was only mildly haunted. I also stayed in a farmhouse near Dublin where our host made fresh scones and tea every morning, told us stories about the area, and introduced us to his cows! It was incredible to see centuries-old architecture and the topography was stunning.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself!

As of this year, I have been to all 50 states. My parents made it a priority for my sibling and I to see as much of the country

Thank you to Alyssa for sharing. Say hello next time you see her around!
