Called to order 12:10 pm. Phelan, Hawke, Larson, Melnick, Wechselblatt, Sutanto, Jacobs and Executive Director Darco

May 2, 2023 board meeting minutes: Motion to Approve (Phelan/Melnick) Approved

Treasurer’s Report (Melnick): Reviewed financial reports for May. Still in the black about 12k, but that won’t be final outcome due to cycle of expenses and revenue.

Ongoing Action Items

Committee Reports:

Hearsay Committee:(Hawke) articles are in ahead of schedule, great content planned, new members are contributing.

Social Committee:(Phelan) Bowling with the Judges is next week. Darco and Jacobs observed their annual tradition of Lisa gifting Jesse a Lebowski themed shirt for the event. Lawyer Luau is in August. The golf tournament in September will have a separate womens division in addition to the open division. Volunteers are needed for the golf event; contact Darco or Phelan if you will volunteer.

CLE Committee: (Darco) The committee is off to a great start planning and have a tentative schedule for September through April.

DEI Committee: (Wechselblatt) Pride CLE this month. Meeting with Vancouver Public Schools to debrief the Street Law program. The CCVLP is hosting an art fundraiser event. Judicial Mentorship Program applications are available. The DEI Committee meets this month

Membership Committee: (Sutanto) no update

Judicial Survey: (Phelan) no updates

Membership Update: (Darco) 2022/2023 409 members; 52 nonrenewed; 39 new members; 2021/2022 409 members; May 1st 2022 400 members.

Current Action Items

WSBA Local Hero Award:(Phelan) Zach Stoumbos of Landerholm, P.S. will receive the Local Hero award in recognition of his volunteerism and exceptional professionalism as a lawyer and mentor. The WSBA will host a luncheon on June 23 at their Board of Governors meeting in Vancouver to present Zach with the award. Congratulations Zach!

Annual Meeting Date: (Phelan) Save the Date. The meeting will be September 18th in person with a CLE to follow.

Beer and Justice Event: (Melnick) The Vancouver Beer and Justice event will raise funds for the Campaign for Equal Justice and civil legal aid programs in Clark County. The event will be June 29th at Heathen Brewing. Your support is critical to ensuring everyone has quality representation regardless of income. If you missed the event, then you can always contribute to the Legal Foundation of Washington.
