About The Fcif

Our Mission

The Floor Covering Industry Foundation gets families back on their feet when battling catastrophic injuries, severe disabilities, or other life-altering medical crises. Founded in 1981 by industry leaders, the 501(c)3 charitable nonprofit helps industry workers by providing direct grants for medical care and other basic needs.

Our Impact

Rising costs and expenses cause our beneficiaries to lose basic financial freedom in their time of need. Financial help is viewed as an opportunity to say “we care” to those in our floor covering industry family. Grants are awarded based on need for expenses such as medical care, medications, medical supplies, and other expenses directly related to beneficiary care such as food, shelter, and utilities.

Behind every assistance grant we have made is a story of crisis and perseverance—of a real person struggling through a difficult time. We are helping to keep unexpected setbacks from turning into permanent roadblocks. Visit fcif.org to learn more.

FCIF’s caring approach allows those in need to seek help with dignity and confidence. Our beneficiaries have included:

A creeler in a flooring manufacturing plant who has invasive stage 4 breast cancer that has spread to her bones

A lift-truck operator who had part of his foot amputated

A shipping clerk whose 3-year-old daughter is deaf and has developmental delays requiring special therapy

A flooring installer and his teenage daughter who are both battling leukemia

A sales manager whose husband has lung cancer and a brain tumor

Who We Help

Johnny spent over 20 years working in the flooring industry. He was always willing to step in wherever he was needed, taking on a wide range of roles from personnel clerk to claims specialist. But everything changed when he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and later suffered a serious fall that led to hip surgery and months of rehabilitation. All of a sudden, even everyday expenses became overwhelming.

Through a grant, FCIF was able to step in and provide vital support, helping cover past-due mortgage payments, utilities, and essential medical care. The assistance arrived at a time when Johnny was facing challenges he could never have prepared for. “The Floor Covering Industry Foundation has helped me get through all of these things,” Johnny shared, expressing deep gratitude for the critical support during a very difficult time.

Maribel spent 16 years working as a tufting machine operator in the flooring industry. But in 2022, her world was turned upside down when she received a diagnosis of stage 3 breast cancer. The stability she had known gave way to a period marked by an overwhelming mix of treatments, medical appointments, and uncertainty.

Throughout this journey, Maribel has leaned on her faith, her family, and her community for strength. A grant from FCIF also helped ease the burden by covering essential expenses such as her mortgage, utilities, food, and medical care. With this support, Maribel was able to focus on healing rather than the financial strain of her diagnosis. “I can truly say I would not have been able to move forward without [FCIF’s] help,” she shared.

Meet Randi

Randi spent more than 20 years building her career in the flooring industry. She worked in carpet manufacturing and truly enjoyed her work. But everything shifted in 2021 when she was diagnosed with stage 1 squamous cell cancer. After undergoing surgery and radiation, she believed she had overcome her battle. Then, in 2024, the disease returned. More biopsies and additional treatment became necessary, and the weight of mounting medical bills quickly became overwhelming.

With the support of an FCIF grant, Randi received help with critical medical expenses at a time when the financial strain was becoming difficult to bear. “Thank you to FCIF for being a hand of hope as I continue to face this battle,” Randi said.

Behind every grant is a story of a person who is fighting one of the hardest battles of their life.
