Coldwell Banker Global Luxury® and WealthEngine teamed up to conduct research among U.S. millionaires and demi-billionaires for a special supplement to the 2018 edition of “The Report.” According to a “A Look At Wealth 2018,” the past few years have seen an unprecedented rise in the number of millionaires and demi-billionaires in America. Today, there are approximately 32 million millionaires – those with a net worth of $1 million or more – making up about 7% of the nation’s adult population. There are also 1,770 demi-billionaires – those with over $500 billion in assets. Properties owned by individuals in both groups are primarily found in California and New York as well as tax-friendly states such as Florida and Texas. The report found the majority of today’s millionaires and demibillionaires are between ages 50 and 80, with the most common age for both groups between 60 and 70.
