Bryan Ness, PhD, CCC-SLP
Chair,
Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders
Bryan Ness, PhD, is the chair of the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department and director of the speech-language pathology graduate program at California Baptist University. Prior to earning his PhD, Dr. Ness practiced speech-language pathology in a regional trauma center where he developed an interest in rehabilitation for patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI).
As a researcher, Dr. Ness works collaboratively with professionals in the community, undergraduate and graduate students and other researchers to study ways speech-language pathologists can help individuals with TBI recover and adapt to life with acquired cognitive-communication impairments. His most recent work has examined the impact of traumatic brain injury on social communication and interpersonal relations, the return-to-work process and academic achievement for secondary and postsecondary enrolled students. Dr. Ness presents his research findings at various national and regional conferences, and his work has been published in leading rehabilitation and education journals.
