The program is designed for working professionals seeking to acquire dynamic and innovative leadership skills and integrate evidence-based practices to improve health outcomes. Experiential learning opportunities give students the chance to apply knowledge in a practical setting with activities and on-site practicums. 01
Students engage in supervised practicum experiences with qualified preceptor partners specific to their concentration. Additionally, academic service learning opportunities are available for gaining clinical practice in international settings.
The post master’s program is designed for working professionals, offering either online or in-person options. 03

Graduate as a master’s-prepared nurse equipped to lead, serve and advance health care across diverse settings. At CBU, you will engage in specialized coursework grounded in ethics, compassion and a Christian worldview while learning alongside experienced faculty. Here you will be prepared to make a meaningful impact on 21st-century health care and nursing practice.
Students in the College of Nursing train in state-of-the-art facilities designed to prepare students for real-life situations. For post-licensure students, the lab also features humancomputer interaction programs and advanced practice task trainers for customized learning.
The college also features a special simulation room called the “Black Box Room” where students experience immersive simulation. During the program, students interact with standardized patients to practice advanced nursing skills.
My dad always takes credit for my becoming a nurse. He saw something in me and was always supportive throughout my education. I am thankful for that guidance because it set me on an amazing career journey.
When I finished school, I wanted to work with heart patients, but God had a different plan. He opened the opportunity for me to start my first job in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Neonatal has been my specialty field now for 43 years! I have been a bedside nurse, transport nurse, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist. Working with fragile neonates and their families has brought the most fulfilling moments of my nursing career. I have been so blessed to work with teams providing the best care possible to such vulnerable patients and to be in a position to support, educate, encourage and celebrate with families through a very difficult journey. My experiences led to my doctoral work titled “Development of an Evidence-Based Family-Centered Neonatal Discharge Pathway.”

My other passion is nursing excellence and professional development. I am committed to advancing the nursing profession and recognizing our vital contributions to patient outcomes and healthcare at the local, national and global levels. Nurses provide and coordinate patient care and educate patients, families and the public about various health conditions. Nurses provide advice and emotional support, and also have opportunities to provide spiritual support to patients and their families during the most difficult times of their lives.
I truly believe that nursing is a calling. I am so thankful to my dad. He did not live to see me receive my doctoral degree, but I carried a picture of him during my hooding ceremony. I also am so thankful that God has had His hand on all my days. God has provided amazing opportunities and mentors that have supported my growth and love for the profession. He has led me to CBU, where I continue to “Live My Purpose.” I consider being called a nurse a great privilege and a blessing.

Application for admission with a $45 application fee.
Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and/or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or the evaluated equivalency.
A minimum 3.25 GPA for unconditional admission and a minimum 3.0 GPA for conditional admission.
An active, unencumbered California Registered Nursing (RN) License.
Resume with 1-year minimum work experience as an RN. For APRN concentrations, a resume that includes current practice with 1-2 years of work experience as an RN.
Students are expected to work as an RN during the program to gain clinical experience.
Successful interview with the College of Nursing.
A written statement of purpose.
An applicant whose first language is not English and/or does not have a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction is required to demonstrate English proficiency by submitting a recent TOEFL or IELTS score.
The following clearances are required upon admission:

• AGACNP, FNP, PMHNP and Nurse Educator students are required to have Advanced Pharmacology1, Advanced Physical Assessment and Advanced Pathophysiology
• Nursing Informatics and Nurse Organization Leadership students can have either the Advanced Pharmacology, Advanced Assessment and Advanced Pathophysiology or a combined Advanced Integrative Concepts course.
*For AGACNP, FNP, Nurse Educator and PMHNP concentrations only: Prerequisites must be completed within the last five (5) years. Prerequisite courses can be completed at CBU.
