ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Matthew Furness is graduating with his B.A. in Theatre Performance and Technical Design. During his time in this program, he has grown exponentially in his craft. As an actor, Matthew has performed in 9 productions, including multiple roles, at the Courtyard Shakespeare Festival. He has also designed multiple productions as a light designer and sound designer. Some of his credits at CBU include: Ben Jonson, The Book of Will, Algernon, The Importance of Being Earnest, Doc Gibbs, and Our Town. Design credits include: Sound FX Design; Dietrich and Maria, Light Design; Little Women, Shrek. Moving forward, Matthew will continue to pursue many aspects of theatre, including acting, designing, and directing. He is beyond hopeful for what God has planned for him next. Psalm 32:8

My journey at CBU was such a wonderful experience that I will never regret. This program has challenged me to become better not only as a creative but as a person. Getting to lead community events with the theatre has been such a blessing, helping me grow as a leader and a man of God. I am so thankful for this community and how it has helped me improve as an actor, designer, and man. I want to thank my family for their constant support, encouragement, and love throughout my education. Thank you, Abigail, for always being by my side and supporting me even in the most difficult times. To the friends I have made along the way, you have all encouraged me to continue my growth. To Professor Zachary Bortot, Professor Ethan Park, and Professor Stefan Miller for being amazing teachers striving to help me improve as an actor. You have been such amazing mentors, helping me find confidence in my performance and growing my love for art. To AJ Paulin and Lee Lyons for pushing me to become an amazing designer and taking the chances on me to do my best. Without you, I would never have understood how important all aspects of theatre are or how to make an impact on and off stage. To Annie Anderson, Shane Moser, Michael Ring, Stephanie Hull, Professor Rebekah Bortot and Professor Andy Cole for believing in me and supporting me throughout the theatre.
