This recital is presented under the direction of Professor Zachary Bortot in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the B.A. in Theatre.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY Lissa Gray has two favorite things: a good song and a good story.

So naturally she was destined to become a Musical Theatre Major. San Diego, CA is where she calls home, and she’s been performing from five years old. Her theatrical roots come from her mom who trained her to memorize Bible verses through songs (which she still remembers), her dad who always has a tune to sing in the kitchen, and her Grammie who taught her to perform. Whether she was performing on stage or forcing her best friend and her brother to perform for the family, she was always supported and encouraged to make this artform her passion. Over her time at CBU, she has worn the hats of actor, singer, dancer, writer, director, crew member, dramaturg, and worship leader. She loves performing on the Wallace Stage and is excited to perform one last time and show you what she’s learned over four years of training. Some of her theatrical credits include: California Baptist University: Joseph, Narrator; The Book of Will, Elizabeth Condell; The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Gargoyle; Sunday in the Park, Celeste #2; Dietrich and Maria, Eva Braun; Shrek the Musical, Wicked Witch/Featured Dancer; Cinderella, Ensemble; Antioch Collective: Godspell, Disciple.

Because of you, I’ve found the strength to make myself heard at CBU and beyond. Professor Park, thank you for diversifying and deepening my love of theatre, not just as entertainment but as beautiful storytelling. Professor (Zach) Bortot, thank you for encouraging my acting journey and for giving me advice I will never forget. Professor (Rebekah) Bortot, thank you for helping me grow from mover to dancer, and for the incredible show experiences that I will treasure forever. Mom and Dad, thank you for your constant support of my talents and for always encouraging me to take the next step. Steven, thank you for bearing with me when I made you perform with me. Grammie, thank you for being my biggest cheerleader even in heaven. Gramma and Papa, thank you for coming to every performance and giving me an audience to look forward to. I love all of you so much! Taylor, my love, thank you for being my best friend and for always cheering me on. I’m so happy we’re in this theatre family together.

I thank my Heavenly Father for providing this path for me, giving me endless opportunities and friends, and opening doors every step of the way. All glory goes to Him!
