ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

JC is a passionate and accomplished French horn player who earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music from California Baptist University. While JC now excels on the French horn, his musical journey began with humble beginnings on other brass instruments. Initially drawn to music by the allure of the trumpet, JC explored various brass instruments throughout his formative years, dabbling in trombone, euphonium, and tuba before discovering his true calling with the French horn.

During his undergraduate studies, JC demonstrated exceptional musicianship and artistry, earning praise for his expressive performances and technical prowess. He was an integral member of the CBU Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and University Choir and Orchestra, contributing his talents to a diverse array of musical repertoire spanning classical, opera, marching band, and ministry. JC has continued his education by pursuing a master's degree in French horn performance. With a deep passion for artistic excellence, he aspires to inspire others through music and to share his knowledge and love for the arts as a music educator.

COLLABORATIVE ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

During her undergraduate years, Brenda Reinebach double majored in Vocal Performance and Music Education, with a piano performance major, and won a South Carolina State performance competition with the Saint-Saëns Concerto in G Minor. Moving to CA in 1985, she assumed directorship of the piano classes at Azusa Pacific University along with the Department of Vocal Performance. Her keyboard skills as a church musician, collaborative pianist, and keyboard improviser run the gamut from Christian contemporary classical to commercial literature.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

First and foremost, I am deeply grateful to my incredible instructor, Lisa Cherry, whose guidance and support have shaped my musical journey. Dr. Moon, Dr. Holliday, Dr. Levine, and Professor Wheeler, thank you for believing in me since day one. To all SOPA faculty, thank you for being a catalyst for growth and for providing a safe space to grow and learn, not only as musicians but as people as well. I also want to thank my fellow musicians; your collaboration and camaraderie have made this experience truly unforgettable. If you had told me 6 years ago that I would be part of an amazing and supportive Horn section, I would have told you to kick rocks. Marcela, Evan, Salvador, Westonator, and Jandy, you've truly made my experience. You've made those long rehearsals fun and exciting. You've made my 6 years here unforgettable. I'm proud to have called you my section; we've created something special here at CBU. To my family and friends, your encouragement has fueled my passion for the French horn, and I am forever thankful for your support. None of this is possible without you. Most of all, to my wife, Ericka Mahal, thank you for standing by me every step of the way. Thank you for your love, patience, and belief in me. You have been my greatest source of strength. Through long rehearsals, late-night practice sessions, and those 95degree days of delivering Amazon packages, you have been my rock every step of the way. Your unwavering support extends far beyond music, shaping not just my career but the person I am becoming. I am endlessly grateful to walk this journey with you.
