TEXTS AND TRANSLATIONS

An Chloe (To Chloe)

When love looks out of your blue, bright and open eyes, and the joy of gazing into them causes my heart to throb and glow; and I hold you and kiss your rosy cheeks warm, sweet girl and clasp you trembling in my arms, sweet girl, sweet girl, and press you firmly to my breast, where until my dying moment I shall hold you tight – my ecstatic gaze is blurred by a somber cloud; and I sit then exhausted, but blissful, by your side.

Deh Vieni, Non Tardar (Ah, Come, Do Not Delay)

The moment has arrived at last that I will enjoy without worry in the arms of my beloved. Timid worries, get out of my heart, do not come to disturb my pleasure! Oh how the spirit of this place, the earth and the sky, seem to echo the fire of love! How the night furthers my secrecy! Ah, come! Do not delay, my handsome lover, come where love calls you to enjoyment, before the moon rises, while the air is still dark and the world is quiet. The stream murmurs here, the breeze plays here, which the heart restores with sweet whispering. Here the little flowers laugh and the grass is cool, here everything entices you to the pleasures of love. Come, my dearest, among the trees' shelter. Come, come! I want to crown you with roses.

Ach ich fühls (Ah, I Feel It)

Ah, I can feel it, love's happiness is fled forever! Nevermore, O hours of bliss, will you return to my heart! See, Tamino, these tears flow for you alone, beloved. If you do not feel love's yearning, I shall find peace in death!

Mandoline (Mandolin)

The serenaders and their lovely listeners exchange insipid remarks beneath the singing branches. It is Tircis and it is Aminte, and it is the eternal Clitandre, and it is Damis who for many a cruel woman composes many a tender verse. Their short silk vests, their long dresses with trains, their elegance, their joy and their soft blue shadows whirl in the ecstasy of a rose and grey moon, and the mandolin chatters amid the shivers of the breeze.

Au bord de l’eau (At the Water’s Edge)

To sit together on the bank of a flowing stream, to watch it flow; together, if a cloud glides by, to watch it glide; on the horizon, if smoke rises from thatch, to watch it rise; if nearby a flower smells sweet, to savour its sweetness; to listen at the foot of the willow, where water murmurs, to the murmuring water; not to feel, while this dream passes, the passing of time; but feeling no deep passion, except to adore each other, with no cares

for the quarrels of the world, to know nothing of them; and alone together, seeing all that tires, not to tire of each other, to feel that love, in the face of all that passes, shall never pass!

Notre Amour (Our Love)

Our love is an easy thing, tender and quiet, oh so quiet! It glides gently, charming and calm, like a sheltered stream. Without great passion or jealous fits, without oppressive dreams or painful awakenings, it was born one day in spring; it will die one autumn evening.

Ouvre ton coeur (Open Your Heart)

The young maiden said, "My heart is troubled! What is this new trembling that seizes me when you are near? My face turns red, my bosom heaves; when you smile, I lower my eyes, I dare not speak, I dare not listen to you!" "Dear child," replied the youth, "Do not fear this innocent turmoil. It is love that is born, beautiful and pure, and fills your heart with joy. Open your heart to youth, to happiness, to intoxication, to love, to tenderness!"

Die Lotosblume (The Lotus Flower)

The lotus flower fears the sun's splendor, and with bowed head dreamily awaits the night. The moon is her lover, he wakes her with his light, and to him she kindly unveils her faithful flower face. She blooms and glows and gleams, and gazes mutely upward; fragrant and weeping, she trembles with love and love's sorrow.

Widmung (Dedication)

You are my soul, you are my heart, you are my bliss, you are my pain, you are the world in which I live, you are my heaven, into which I soar, you are my grave, into which I eternally cast my grief. You are rest, you are peace, you are bestowed upon me from heaven. That you love me gives me my worth, your gaze transfigures me, you raise me lovingly above myself, my good spirit, my better self!

Botschaft (Message)

Blow breeze, gently and sweetly about the cheek of my beloved, play softly with her tresses, make no haste to fly away! Then if she should chance to ask how things are with wretched me, say: 'His sorrow's been unending, his condition most grave; but now he can hope to revel in life once more, for you, fair one, think of him.'

Janhyang (Lingering Echo)

From where does this faint wind blow? In the pale green field of my heart, your fragrance fills completely. The red breath I exhaled while running down a distant road at that place where I stand again, your breath fills completely. Your lingering resonance that filled the white moonlight gently permeate and remain in my heart. Turning and returning, turning and returning, when it stops at that place, only the helplessly flowing song of water, only the song of water remains.

Quando m’en vo (When I Go Out)

When I go out alone through the streets, people stop and stare at me, and examine my beauty from head to toe. And then I savor the subtle longing that emanates from their eyes and which knows how to perceive my hidden beauties. Thus the scent of desire surrounds me, it makes me happy! And you who know, who remember and yearn, you shrink away from me? I know it well: you don't want to express your anguish, but you feel yourself dying!

His warm encouragement and insightful mentorship have continually inspired my growth as a musician. I am also truly thankful to Professor Stefan Miller, Professor Cathy Miller, and Professor Juan Castaneda for their dedicated guidance in opera and their thoughtful musical coaching, through which I have been able to take a meaningful step forward as a musician. I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to the CBU Collinsworth School of Performing Arts for providing excellent musical training grounded in both faith and artistry, and to Dr. Moon for his generous support. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to my pianist, Kevin, whose dedication and musical sensitivity have made the performance truly shine. My dear friends at CBU warmly welcomed me and helped me adjust to a new environment, and their encouragement has given me great strength and confidence. Above all, I am profoundly grateful to my family for their unwavering love and support. My parents’ constant belief in me has allowed me to continue singing, to share my heart through music, and to spread love through what I cherish most. With excitement and joy rather than fear, I will continue to move forward with a heart full of love and happiness, striving to grow both as an artist and as a person. With the voice that God has given me, I hope to share love and comfort with others. The One who created me and the One who has sent me is God.
