The Doctor of Education (EdD) in Organizational Change and Administration program includes intensive study and practice of the necessary theories, principles and skills for transforming organizations to achieve optimal growth.
The interdisciplinary degree gives students the option to focus their learning and research on K-12 education, higher education, private and corporate sectors, or public and nonprofit sectors. 02
Students are equipped with biblically based ethical principles and practices which emphasize character, courage and wisdom. 03

What does Asynchronous mean?
CBU’s asynchronous class format means our online programs provide the maximum amount of flexibility for a minimum amount of interruption to your busy schedule. Additionally, the 8-week format means you can complete your degree twice as fast as a traditional semester schedule.
*Students complete 56 semester units. The program is designed for students to complete the course and dissertation requirements in three years or ten continuous semesters of study. Students have the option for additional time to complete their dissertation if necessary. **Based on current academic year. Subject to change. Additional fees may apply.

Philip Breitenbucher serves as an assistant professor of social work and a research associate at California Baptist University. He provides consulting services to numerous organizations and government agencies throughout the nation. His research interests include leadership, organizational change, social work instructional design and the intersection of child welfare and substance abuse.
Q: Why did you want to study Organizational Change and Administration?
A: Pursuing a doctoral degree has been a lifelong dream of mine. Having a doctorate allows me to advance my career in higher education and serve in a variety of capacities.
Q: Why did you choose to study Organizational Change and Administration at CBU?
A: I chose CBU for several reasons. First, because of its excellent reputation and my experience as an undergraduate. Additionally, after researching other doctoral degrees, CBU’s curriculum and organization best met my needs.
Q: What is the most rewarding thing about working in your industry or specific job role?
A: Watching students grow and develop.
Q: How did CBU prepare you for your career?
A: The doctoral program developed me as a leader and as a professor.
Q: What is a piece of advice you would give to someone looking to apply to this program?
A: Talk with your family and be sure everyone is committed to the journey. Completing a doctorate program is a major commitment, but one you will never regret.
Christina Gonzalez, EdD Program Director, Organizational Change and Administration
I have always been interested in leadership and how it can elevate organizational performance and culture. My background includes over 25 years of corporate experience in operations, management, sales and marketing in domestic and international settings. I have always enjoyed mentoring and developing future leaders, as my passion has been helping others see and reach their full potential. Having worked in competitive for-profit environments, I have witnessed firsthand how effective organizational change can positively support employee morale, creating an agile competitive differentiator. I have also observed how poorly planned change can have negative, longstanding impacts on profitability, customers and employee retention. Early on in my career, I studied servant leadership. This model shaped my philosophy and inspired my interest in teaching adult learners. It also was part of my decision to pursue a terminal degree in organizational change and leadership.
As I entered higher education 14 years ago, I focused on bridging professional experience into the classroom. My work emphasized preparing students for practical on-the-job approaches to administering organizational change. These skills are effective for individual contributors and those aspiring to or currently leading large organizations. Applying organizational practices and identifying one’s personal leadership philosophy is central to our EdD in organizational change and administration program. Preparing, deploying and monitoring change is central across all industries: for-profit, nonprofit and higher education. Our EdD program is well-suited for individuals in their current organization preparing for promotion or aspiring to future opportunities in various sectors.

Official transcript from an accredited college or university reflecting completion of a master’s degree.
Minimum 3.0 GPA cumulative or last 60/90 unit GPA. Additional opportunities may be available for a student to overcome an unsatisfactory GPA.
Written statement of purpose OR in-person/virtual program interview (student’s choice). Written statement (500-word maximum) or interview will address:

• How will this program help meet those goals?
• What makes you a good fit for CBU?
