Designed for those seeking an active role in developing innovative, sustainable solutions, the program equips students to enhance the quality of their decisionmaking and foster a culture of performance excellence in today’s global business environment.
The Dr. Robert K. Jabs School of Business Doctor of Business Administration program is designed to develop innovative leaders who seek to catalyze an impact on public, private and nonprofit organizations.
Graduates of the online Doctor of Business Administration program will acquire the tools needed to synthesize their theoretical foundation, carry out timely and relevant applied research and immediately apply creative and actionable plans to solve existing problems.
A cohort model allows for students to progress together through coursework and dissertation process.
The DBA program at CBU offers a flexible pathway for candidates who have completed doctoral coursework but have not yet finished their dissertation (ABD: All But Dissertation). Qualified applicants from accredited DBA or PhD programs may be considered for advanced standing and enter the program at the research sequence, allowing them to complete their dissertation fully online and asynchronously.

What does Asynchronous mean?
CBU’s asynchronous class format means our online programs provide the maximum amount of flexibility for a minimum amount of interruption to your busy schedule. Additionally, the 8-week format means you can complete your degree twice as fast as a traditional semester schedule.
*Students complete 56 semester units. The program is designed for students to complete the course and dissertation requirements in three years or ten continuous semesters of study. Students have the option for additional time to complete their dissertation if necessary.

Henry Petersen, PhD Program Director, Doctor of Business Administration (Online)
My initial career as an electrical contractor was interrupted by going back to school for a bachelor’s degree in cellular and molecular biology and microbiology. Upon graduating, I started another contracting business and was blessed to have the privilege of investing in a waste treatment system utilizing high voltage. After several years, education came calling again, and I moved to Ecuador and completed a master’s degree in energy and environmental management. While studying, I was blessed to work for the oil and gas and the environmental sectors. There, my interest in business opportunities found in sustainability flourished, and I was invited to continue my studies toward a terminal degree with a scholarship.
My interests grew as I recognized both the entrepreneurial opportunities and the competitive advantages that could be developed from investing in the management of environmental issues and corporate social responsibility. Seeking and identifying sufficient returns on investments helps to convince organizations to take responsibility for the negative outcomes of their business. I have also examined sustainable development through the lens of corporate governance, competitive advantages, marketing, supply chains and others.
One of the defining moments of my life was choosing to follow the Lord. When I was saved, I vowed to follow the Lord in His leading rather than my own. As a result, I have lived in several countries, several states and in a variety of different positions. I look forward to what will happen next!

• Please describe why you chose the DBA program and be sure to cite specific experiences and examples.
• Please explain why it is important for you to study at CBU.
• Please share your career goals and why you believe the DBA program will assist you in reaching those goals.
