Dr. Robert K. Jabs School of Business
The Master of Business Administration program integrates a global perspective with strategic and critical thinking concepts in business. It equips students with practical skills and a strong foundation in business, while also providing opportunities for personal growth and development as professionals.
For an optional fee, international business experiences help students collaborate across borders and grasp an understanding of key cultural practices. Students will also meet business leaders and visit major business locations in the chosen country.
Integrated faith and learning prepares candidates to leave the program with improved ethical decision-making skills, competent leadership foresight and management ability that transfers immediately to the workplace.
Academically qualified, the MBA faculty is comprised of successful entrepreneurs, managers, consultants, researchers, authors, business owners and leaders who have practiced what they teach.
Classes are offered midweek evenings or online to accommodate the schedule of working professionals.
Graduate students in the MBA program may opt into an international internship.

Vanessa Perez Class of 2021
Vanessa is the executive director at the Time for Change Foundation. Vanessa began working there as an intern under the communications department and has worked her way up to Time for Change Foundation’s director. In her current role, she supports the implementation of the foundation’s strategic plans and policies and also provides leadership and management to staff in the areas of planning, programming, funding, marketing and administration.
Q: Why did you want to study business administration?
A: After two years of interning at a local radio station, I met God, got saved and was introduced to an internship with a local nonprofit called Time for Change Foundation. I didn’t know it then, but God put this desire in my heart to get my MBA so that I would have the knowledge and understanding to help create programs that support low-income women with starting their own businesses.
Q: What have you loved most about working in the field you are in?
A: The people. A nonprofit is still a business, and while most people undermine the work, it takes a lot to run an entire organization and constantly fundraise.
Q: What about CBU caught your eye when applying to graduate programs?
A: When searching for graduate schools to attend, CBU was at the top of the list based on word of mouth. When I did my research, I liked the friendliness of the admissions staff and how supportive the school is in helping with the application process.
Q: How did CBU prepare you for the job you are in currently?
A: I believe that CBU’s MBA program provided me with an enhanced understanding of what it means to run a business and what it takes as a manager, leader or director. Additionally, it provided the opportunity to create a network of peers that I can keep in contact with for future business opportunities and partnerships. Lastly, I believe it helped broaden my ability to critically think about situations and apply a more strategic, intentional lens to the work I do.
Q: What was one of the most valuable things you took from your time at CBU?
A: Gaining the confidence I needed to know I don’t have to know it all. And not having a business background does not mean that I couldn’t learn something new and do well at it. Additionally, I loved that the program was God centered and incorporated prayer and the Word.
Q: What is a piece of advice you would give to someone looking to apply to this program?
A: I’m not a person that gets excited when I don’t understand new things. I get frustrated, but I’m not a quitter. If you are looking for a program that will challenge you and increase your knowledge and skills, this program is for you.
Tad Hove, PhD Associate Dean, Management Division
As an educator and entrepreneur, Dr. Hove is currently an Associate Dean of the Management Division for the Dr. Robert K. Jabs School of Business at California Baptist University, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in leadership, foundations of management, domestic and international business, project management, strategic decision making and organizational behavior. In addition, Dr. Hove supports entrepreneurs as a consultant while running a real estate business with his wife. His interest in the real estate industry began at the age of 17 when he and some colleagues purchased their first piece of property.
Prior to his retirement as an engineer for Qualcomm, Dr. Hove traveled around the world developing business relationships and second-source solutions for Qualcomm and Kyocera. He holds a patent, which he developed while employed by Qualcomm, which provides charging for all lithium-ion battery supported cellular phone devices.
Dr. Hove has been appointed a fellow in the Paul and Annie Kienel Leadership Institute, where he participates in speaking and lecturing on leadership topics, and is currently writing a book on mentoring. He is an advocate for leadership in student development and higher education motivation, and he continues each year in support of a program he founded that provides vocation employment opportunities for at-risk youth.

Official transcript from an accredited college or university reflecting the completion of a baccalaureate degree.
Minimum 2.75 GPA cumulative or last 60/90 unit GPA. Additional opportunities may be available for a student to overcome an unsatisfactory GPA.
Written statement of purpose OR in-person/virtual program interview (student’s choice). Written statement (500-word maximum) or interview will address:
• What are your educational goals?
• How will this program help meet those goals?
• What makes you a good fit for CBU?
Additional requirements may be requested.
Previous completion of 21 units of accounting is required for the accounting concentration.
