ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Anna Lynn is her name, and writing songs with melancholy, yearning, and hopeless romanticism is her game. Coming from a quiet, small-town background, she seeks to use her experiences and abilities to shine a light in a dark place through her music reaching hearts because of her foundation in Christ, and through her content cast a broad net over everyone to bring a message of hope and relatability regardless of personal belief. Her ideal world is one where people find joy, comfort, and personal fulfillment in music no matter where they are in life. Her qualifications? Well, she wrote a couple songs once or twice, which counts for something, she hopes. Additionally, she was a soloist at the Dordt Choir Festival, and she’s been a Phil Wickham background choir member for several of his tours, music videos, and concerts. Her musical influences include Lizzy Mcalpine, Mazzy Star, Noah Kahan, Alex G., Laufey, Conan Gray, Ethel Cain, Radiohead, ••-••-••••-••, Canon Adkins, Hozier, and Zach Bryan, among many other artists and groups.

I want to take a long moment to remember all the people, events, and influences that have coalesced in order for my vision and creativity to take shape. I want to thank my mom and dad, and mom’s family, for introducing me to music before I was even born and keeping me immersed in that world for my entire life. Thank you, so much. You have shaped me, and I am so excited to be growing into the person I am going to be. I want to appreciate my professors and mentors here at CBU, with special thanks for Alex Mendoza, my songwriting professor, who taught me that tough love really does yield good results. Many thanks also to Emily Benford for helping to organize this recital (and many more, what a tough job), you are always an encouraging light. Thanks from the bottom of my heart to my friends - Lauryn, Anthony, James, Caesar, Cora, Sarah, and many more (you know who you are) who are always down to hear ideas and help me work through writing slumps or musical confusion. You guys are my real goats. I want to especially appreciate the tech work helping my recital sound good tonight, you’re amazing!! Lastly, I want to direct all glory to my Father, for creating me, placing me in this environment, and causing me to create for Him. Soli deo gloria!
