This recital is presented under the direction of Professor Ernie Nunez in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the B.M. in Music Education degree.
Vicktor Pargas began playing double bass in 2021 before enrolling at Riverside City College in the same year to study music. There he studied under bassist Rick Shaw where he graduated with an AA in Music before transferring to CBU in Fall 2023 after recruitment from Professor Dan St. Marseille. At CBU, he studies with bassist Ernie Nunez where he will graduate with his Bachelor’s in Music Education in Fall 2026. At both institutions he performed in the Wind and Jazz Ensembles, Symphony Orchestra, Pep Band, and various jazz combos. As an artist, Vicktor has performed in jazz combos and pop groups in venues across southern California. He has recorded bass for artists including Edgar Gaspar, Kyle Harris Archie, Ronin Ewell, and Sweet Honey. He has performed in orchestra pits for musical and opera productions for schools including CBU and RCC. Vicktor serves as a member of the worship team at Colton Community Church, and has received a certificate of recognition from the city of Los Angeles for his performance with the band Feather Flowers in the 2023 East Los Angeles Mexican Independence Day Festival. As an educator, Vicktor works as a Teaching Artist for the Riverside Arts Academy teaching beginner strings and coaching with the Riverside Youth Orchestra. He also works as the double bass coach at Riverside Poly High School.

I would like to thank both of my parents for their continued support and belief throughout my education and life. I would like to thank the faculty at CBU for providing me with a meaningful and enriching education, specifically Dr. Park, Professor St. Marseille, Dr. Levine, Dr. Moon and Dr. Pickett who opened doors for me in performance and teaching beyond CBU. I would like to thank my friends for always being there for me throughout my journey. I thank Rick Shaw for providing me with a strong foundation on my instrument, and Ernie Nunez for helping me build upon that foundation. I would also like to thank my partner Leslie for always supporting and loving me and for coming to all of my concerts that she could.
