ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Faith Vasquez began her musical journey in elementary school choir, where she discovered her love for singing. During show choir in high school, she took on a leadership role as Vice President that included choreographing performances, selecting repertoire, and competing in festivals in Nashville, Tennessee. Eager to expand her musical knowledge, Faith joined an afterschool music program where she served as the primary vocalist and keyboardist for the program’s advanced band. Throughout her involvement, she performed over 144 times at notable venues such as the House of Blues in Anaheim, Stillwater, and the Rancho Santa Margarita Lake Amphitheater. Since coming to California Baptist University, she has participated in the chorus of three Dido and Aeneas, Trial by Jury, and Romeo et Juliette as well as the University Choir & Orchestra and Magnolia Singers. Even as a full-time college student, Faith gives vocal and piano private lessons at Los Rios Rock School. She is excited to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education alongside a teaching credential to pursue her passion of teaching music to the next generation.

COLLABORATIVE ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Jennifer Cruz is Assocaite Professor of Music and Director of Keyboard Collaborative Arts at CBU. TEXTS AND TRANSLATIONS

Amarilli, Mia Bella – Amaryllis, My Love

My lovely Amaryllis, Don’t you know, O my heart’s sweet desire, That it is you whom I love? Believe in my love; and if fear besets you, Don’t doubt that it’s true. Open my breast and see written on my heart: Amaryllis, Amaryllis, Amaryllis, is my love.

Ma Rendi Pur Contanto – Only Make Her Happy

Only make happy the heart of my beautiful [lady], And I will pardon you, love if my own [heart] is not glad. Her troubles I fear more than my own troubles, Because I live more in her than I live in myself

Algun Dia - Someday

One day you will arrive; Love awaits us. And you tell me: Beloved, spring has arrived One day you will love me.

You will be so close to my chest, I won’t know if the fire that embraces me Is from your heart or from the summer One day you will have me We will listen silently To the pulsing in our veins And the barren trees sobbing One day. Any day. Brief and eternal, Love is the same in the spring, In summer, in autumn, and in winter.

Siempre - Always

For there will always be my deepest songs, For you new verses test their flight; You have been on my path of mute sorrows A flowering rose of love and consolation. The whitest pearl of all my seas, The sweetest star of all my skies, The most glorious flower of the orange blossoms The greatest prize of the hidden desires. Merely by loving you I understand life; If only for seeing you I pardon the injury Of the wrongs that hurt relentlessly without respite.

For you there are new roses on the paths, And like jasmine, trembling splendors Display their brooches of light in the soul.

Glückwunsch – I Wish You Bliss

I wish you bliss. I bring you the sun with my kiss. I feel your heart beat in my breast to stay forever its guest. It feels and hopes: The sunshine beams although your eyes may lose their dreams. It hopes for glances so wanting in lust, As though you held the world in trust It hopes for glaces so full of desire as if the earth should be born of fire. It hopes for glances of such might to make spring of a winters night. And ever, ever, though your day shines love’s most beautiful rose bouquet.

Im

Wunderschönen Monat Mai – In the Wondrous Month of May

In the wondrous month of May, When all the buds burst into bloom, Then it was that in my heart Love began to burgeon. In the wondrous month of May, When all the birds were singing, Then it was I confessed to her My longing and desire.
